Corn, I want to post this publicly in case it interests anyone else. 

With PDFlib Blocks, how are you dealing with blocks (data fields) that users don't fill in? If you're setting up a BC and each # has its own block (off, fax, cell, etc) if one isn't filled in there is a gap. The alternative to that is to put them all in one block, but then the user would have to type "Office" and "Fax: before or after the #s so that won't work.

Have you dealt with this?

Use "if" statements. This might be a modification by Printlinqs/ePower, though, to the pdflib block program. If a field is left blank, it skips to the next one. This is an example for a card that has two phones numbers on the same line (not two separate lines), for a max of 4 phone numbers.

Something along the lines of:

!!If("{Phone 1}"!="" and "{Phone 2}"!="") or("{Phone 1}"="" and "{Phone 2}"="")%%<space><space>%%<nextline>!!

The !! begin the string
The solo ! means "does not"
Field Name is defined by the brackets {}
The %% is like saying "than"

So this line reads: If Field for Phone 1 and Phone 2 do not equal blank or if Phone 1 is blank and Phone 2 is blank than add two spaces otherwise add a return

I also have a Phone 3 and a Phone 4 definition, so if the dolt only enters a value on Phone 3, it adjusts... or if they oddly enter a value for Phone 1 and Phone 4 it keeps them on one line instead of splitting them apart.

Also, I might be mistaken, but to a certain degree, pdflib blocks will ignore a blank field and go on to the next one if set up like the screenshots (set the field determiners as "noprint," and then add them to the card using the "paragraph" function).

Does your Acrobat crash a lot when working on PDFlib Blocks? Mine does, it's almost as bad as FusionPro.

No. Rarely, if at all does it crash in blocks. ePower is Windows based, so I work in Windows exclusively using only Windows fonts. I have it for Mac, and sometimes use it for reviewing, or teeny-tiny alterations, but almost all work is done in Windows.

I'm doing it on Mac b/c all my PDF templates derive from Mac Indy layout files.

So do mine... but I convert over to Windows because they¹ told me to.
