I will be upgrading today or tomorrow, anything I need to know before installing?
Upgrading from 11
I know there a bunch of vids (http://www.enfocus.com/en/products/pitstop-pro/videos/#demos-and-tutorials) on their site, good a place as any to start! I need to run through them too, been having trouble doing some stupidly basic things in Pitstop lately. :embarrassed:
I've gone through all the vids on the site and there is very good info there.
opps sorry, forgot to send you the links to the webinars we did for PitStop 12
Will do it first thing in the morning!
No worries, I forgot to send you my email. :lipsrsealed:
I got them and as soon as I get cleared up I'll check them out.

I'll email you too, if you don't mind sending the link. Got some time here while it's a little slow, good time to do some learnin' and whatnots.
I sent you a PM with all the links and information, any questions just ask.
As per earlier mentions here; familiarise yourselves with vector boxes now with drag points, and image editing from within Inspector.
The image editing I was pretty amazed with. Very good tool.
Made my 1st action
sheesh finally, thanks abc!
WOOT! Tracy's gettin' some action! :naughty:

All uphill from now!!
Yep, until Enfocus goes and changes the entire interface of Pitstop again.

Seems to cover 90% of the stuff you'd want to do to an image in a PDF. I still crack occasionally into PhSh for stuff like cloning problem areas... stuff like that. But even that seems a little smoother in Acrobat XI.

No plans to do that, and you should be aware the last time it was because of the changes Adobe made in Acrobat X.
We would much rather develop new things believe me.
I still find it wonky compared to v7... but that was made a long time ago. You have to expect things will change and just as I had to learn it before, I'll just adapt again.
Trying to pull out bleeds using pitstop select tool
not sure how to do it.
I'm not seeing a handle
You're not seeing these handles?
actually yes, but I'm not able to move them.
(can't grab it)
Practice Tracy, practice.
snatch the pebble, weedhopper...
Quote from: Tracy on September 17, 2014, 01:32:54 PMactually yes, but I'm not able to move them.

I have the same problem with Acrobat X but it works in Acrobat XI.
Those damned things are hard to grab sometimes
Ever tried manipulating an object using X/Y co-ordinates in the Inspector?
Just a thought

Of course but the handles that are there do not always work. Like I mentioned, I can grab them and pull them out with Acrobat XI but not in Acrobat X.
can you send me the example joe?
I would like to understand why
It is not any certain PDF file. It is every PDF. In Acrobat 10 I cannot grab a handle and resize whether it is text, image, or a vector object. The same PDF opened in Acrobat XI and I can grab the handle and resize it.
I just updated to Acrobat X to the recently released Acrobat X 10.1.12 and now I can grab the handles and re-size objects. Weird stuff.
that is really weird, what OS are you running?

That's how I used to do it. Once the handles showed up, it's my standard backup. I can usually grab the handles, but sometimes it's tricky; takes three or four attempts.
Quote from: abc on September 19, 2014, 12:55:06 AMthat is really weird, what OS are you running?
OS X 10.9.4
using xy coordinates here too
I have the Cloud but am hesitating updating the Acro
Was anyone else at the webinar this morning?
Not me. Had a Dr. appt.
Not me. I already know everything. :rotf: :hello:
Ear's wife stole his password.
:lmao: :lipsrsealed:
Quote from: Tracy on December 03, 2014, 12:04:38 PMWas anyone else at the webinar this morning?
Do you make it Tracy?
Was it useful?
Next one 7th January 4pm CET
I did make it!
I learned a couple things I didn't know, that were really basic :azn:
signed up for next month already!
Do I actually have to interact or can I just be a fly on the wall?
We have so many people on these it's impossible to enable speech
so it's listen or contribute on the chat window
we'll follow up either in the session or afterwards.
They are all recorded and the links made available.
We also have an 'official Enfocus PitStop user group' on Linked as a place to continue discussion and interaction.
Bottom link, lurk or get involved, either is fine
I'll try and make the next one.
Slow today, practicing Pitstop Actions
I'm trying to create an action that enlarges the media box to 8.75x11.25
I got it to work (I think) but I only see the new pages size
if I click on show page boxes, It imports into indy at the new size,
but at the bottom left it still says 8.5x11 (unless I click on show pages boxes)
imports into xmf at 8.75x11.25 too
When you import into Indy check the little box that says something like "show import options". In there you tell it whether to import via media box, bleed box, trim box, etc...
I think my grammar messed you up :embarrassed:
I import in indy fine,
unless I have pitstops view page boxes on
the pdf in acro says it is 8.5x11
with the view page box on it says it's 8.75x11.25
I think I fixed it, I enlarged the crop box with the inspector.
crop box, art box, aiyai yai
Yeah I was just getting ready to post that. Acrobat displays the crop box size so do them both the same in your action list.
Webinar was on Action lists today
Hope I get some time today to practice!
I was going to try and make it but got jammed up with work.
damn that work, damn it all to hell
Waiting for them to put up the link to the recording as they did with the past ones!
Any chance you have a link to the past webinars?
As luck would have it today I have nothing so I wouldn't mind doing a little learning.

It was a simple one, getting to know crop box, bleed box. trim box etc..
Way to go Tracy. You'll be giving the rest of us lessons before you know it.
Went thru this months webinar, interesting about what he said about LAB Colors
I never thought about it and haven't had to do it, but you could change your LAB spot
to CMYK Spot with pitstop if you had to.

Getting the 'never-ending-buffering' here. Never starts.
If I try to play it directly from the Playback button at that link it buffers for awhile before it plays. If I click the Download link and download it...it works fine. For me anyway.

Just in case this is February
It's a horrible webex proprietary format. The best thing to do is download it and use a .arf player that you can download from webex.
BTW registration now open for the March 4th workshop. You can do it via a link on www.enfocus.com
Thought I would post it here too

Touched on color management yesterday
and some various ways to convert blacks from word docs
Going thru the webinars, they created an action which included "add text" but I'm
not seeing it in the list, is that a pitstop 13 feature?
Must be. I don't see it in Pitstop 12.

Look for ADD OBJECT in the ADD category, then select the TEXT option (line|rectangle|elipse|text), the added action will then display as Add Text. Can you find that in your version?
Yes! I do see it
I will try and make the action.
Thanks Swampy!
My pitstop move tool is not working, any ideas?
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
I can drag with it but can't use the arrow keys, hmm
You have to hold the COMMAND key down to use the arrow keys. I think there is aPitstop preference you can change so you don't have to. (I think)
I think I have used the arrow kets in the past without the command key.
(I think)
The preference is just for dragging it with the mouse. I leave it turned off so I don't accidentally move something when clicking around. Then I have to hold the COMMAND key down to move it either with the mouse or via the arrow keys on the keyboard. I know for the keyboard that has been in at least version 12 and 13.
I'm on 12 and you select > click on the move icon > click your selection again and you can move it with the arrow keys.
I didn't try the command button. BRB.
Command makes it mad and it crashes. Method above works here.
Ahhhh nevermind. I never use the move tool. If you select something with the inspector tool you can move the object by holding down the COMMAND key and using either your mouse or the keyboard arrow keys which is the way I move most things. With the actual move tool you do not have to hold the COMMAND key down. Sorry for the confusion. I'll wake up eventually.
That was all good info, I don't know what's wrong with me
selecting again after selecting the move tool works-sheesh, I don't remember
having to select again.
But I like Command, inspector tool move even better!
Thanks guys!
It didn't used to be like that. I remember in 7 you could just select, hit move and then the arrows. You could also do a select similar then hit delete but now you have to click on delete in the drop down menu.
I don't think it's pitstop's fault. I have a feeling it has to be this way with all the new "features" in the new versions of acrobat.
