Happy Friday! Three and a half day weekend!
I don't know the term or how this happens but a poster we have to print was saved as an Illustrator file but the thing came in as a mash of pieces where you can see white outlines in the work.
How's that for tech talk?!
See the attached snips.
How can the client save the file so it is one piece?
Thanks!

that looks like a flattened pdf saved as an illy file?
there is more of an original file that you need, and to
save differently-need to what the original is.
should be an easy fix

rickself

The pdf they sent looks the same.
I was afraid that it was stomped on or resaved somehow.
So even with Pitstop, there is not anything that I can do in prepress - they need to send an original file.

It might print ok, did you try and make a proof?
since it's a poster try and print a piece of it
it prolly will be fine, but if it's not a hassle getting the original files-I would
I see this once in awhile and I think Ive only seen once where it caused a problem

Exactly as Tracy says. It's from flattening and are called atomic regions. They shouldn't print but every now and then I get one where they do. Must go back to the original and then DO NOT FLATTEN.

There is no original. Good luck trolling through the hierarchy of desingers and others involved. Getting natives is always an enigma.

KILL THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
My sister emailed me a job opening with a large design outfit in Miami, she knows people there and could get me a job easily, great pay, too.
But I told her that I could never cross that line. She didn't get it. I rephrased with "I've been wanting to maim and kill designers for years, why would I want to be one?" Just the thought made me cringe.  :death:

I worked w/ a girl at my last job who once exclaimed "I love being a graphic designer!" after admiring something she created. Totally out of the loop, I didn't say a word.
