first place i worked at sold film and fixer for silver recovery.
second place was a trade house, so we had very little waste film, not worth the effort.
third place ( current ) sold film early on, but silver was worth very little back then and again, hardly worth the effort. went ctp about 15 yrs ago so no more film.

That soup on the floor would have been something else.

I do not miss film processors. Dirty bastards of things.

Nothing cleared the sinuses like 38ยบ C fixer in a tiny enclosed darkroom.

yep, probably the easiest and quickest processor I have had to clean. Helps that it runs a water based gum washout solution as well

CTP - CTF / The platesetter I'm currently using
May 15, 2023, 02:59:09 PM
I didn't want to hijack Impodave's for sale post so:

Our version of Dia Nippon platesetter.

Auto loader, Accento, Azura plate processor and plate stacker.

100 plate capacity in loader, about 3  1/2 minutes per 670 x 560 size plate once it gets going, First plate takes about 5 minutes from realise from Apogee to delivery finished on stacker.

Driven by Agfa Apogee V10.xxAccento Line 2.jpgAccento.jpg

that looks very much like our Agfa Accento II (which is a rebadged Dia Nippon)

we just send a pdf to our xerox J75 and hope for the best. Tell the customer it is content proof not color accurate. if the job is bigger than SRA3 then it gets shrunk to that size

dunno how we get away with it, but we do

We have an Agfa Anapurna M2 with Wasatch Rip.

Will take PDF, tiff, jpeg

Usually go with pdf but if it becomes problematic, straight to photoshop and flatten to a 300 dpi jpeg.

I have been very surprised at times by how good a 72dpi jpeg can sometimes print.

Quote from: DigiCorn on April 14, 2023, 12:00:54 AMTo interface with the RIP between that and the platesetter, you may need a hardware dongle. The serial number is usually printed on the USB dongle.
And to access said dongle or serial number requires obscene amounts of money paid to Heidelberg

Aint that the truth.

And when we point out that we have just saved their nuts from being cut off, we are told that it is our job to do that.

I don't save anyones nuts now, those $#%&ers are on their own
