The new Comic Sans for the 21st Century? Suddenly 9 out of 10 Word/Pub files I get are adorned with Calibri.
Let me guess...it ships with Windows 7?
How'ded you ever come up with that?
Dunno...maybe because the masses tend to accept whatever is offered to them without thinking for themselves?
Default settings. I believe I will start referring to customers in this fashion.

I just checked. It is the default font in Windows 7 for WordPad. I don't have the real Word so I can't check on that.
"The real Word"
Nothing is real, Joe. It's all just ones and zeros. :toaster:
Yes, but they are real ones and zeros.

nope, it's a Powerpoint default font, believe it or not.
:death:
Yup, it's the new default. But then again I write all my emails in plain text which I think is still courier or times. None the less, what ever font they want that I can print so long as the check clears...
It's my word default...
Word...to yo mutha.
word up!?
Guess it's my turn to post this one...for the hundredth time.

word
Ahem, that's Word®.
Please respect any and all copyright laws, even when typing on the Internet. IT MATTERS.
oopsee, my bad
:embarrassed:
Yo, Sssup.
Word.
QuoteCould it be possible to see the font in something more like calibri?
Even when offered professional suggestions from someone with over 3,500 fonts they still pick the standard default. Baaaaaaaah...
I have banned our prepress guys (they have grown out of wanting to be called deziners) from using Arial, Helvetica (unless it's Neue Ultra Light), Times or any derivative thereof, Papyrus, Comic Sans and Teknon.
However, the amount of clients that ASK for these on the basis that they're 'classic' brings a lump to my throat.
Oh well I guess we'll just take the $$$
I had to ban myself from using Zapfino and Bleeding Cowboys. Now I see those EVERYWHERE. They're like the Comic Sans of the desing crowd.
I gots no problem with Helvetica. Used properly it can be beautiful.
I had to use it today to conform to a corp's "identity standards". :vomit: It had to be Adobe Helvetica Neue.

I don't see what the big deal is with Helvetica especially Neue - there are so many variations that it is versatile as hell. We're not trying to win any awards here, but when you need a clean readable font that comes in every possible weight and width, Helvetica Neue is my go-to font.
Times is nice because we all have it in our default set, so when you're typesetting some boring ass form or some generic piece of crap it just works.
now... Papyrus and Comic Sans, there's another story.
To answer your question, tpatterson...YES. Yes, it is Friday.
I'm working on a combo of both, it will be called PappySans'rUs.
It will be universally accepted and loved by all.
it's a "can't miss" idea!
LOL. Make sure you upload it to dafont.com so EVERYONE can start using it ubiquitously! I can't wait to set my next book in it.
I'm on it!
Why don't you call it ComicPap?
that's not as much fun to say. I figure if it's fun to say, everybody will be sayin' it and usin' it!
Prepress is fun, remember?
I thought ComicPap was pretty funny. You could make it all Web 2.0 and call it comicpap'n beta or something. (must be all lowercase to truly be 2.0)

OOOH, good idea, that just sounds like it has to be good!

He's right. But I am a Neue fanatic. Sh*t, the more members in a font family, the better IMO.
There's a whole documentary about Helvetica. It's pretty good and even worth a few laughs. How many fonts get their own movie?!

Where'd you find it? I had in on my Blockbuster queue a few years ago, but it always said, "coming soon," and I never got it.
I would rather see a movie about Papyrus or Comic Sans. Helvetica is boring.
A movie about comic sans would have more bleeps than Goodfella's on broadcast TV.

Library, yo. Mine now.
I started a thread about it. I can *share* if anyone else wants it.

I Netflix'd it, I loved it, being German and all....
Fellow Kraut, nice.
Heil Reinheitsgebot!
I wish Beck was around today so he could type "yavoll" again.

Ja wohl!
^ Das is recht! My German is pretty bad tho...except I can remember how to spell the name of my favorite Deutscher band 'einsturzende neubauten'.
I just stick with Rammstein - easier to spell and say.
"MUTTER!!!" (as in 'mother')
Comic Sans has a movie.
Sort've.

Is that the one with Hitler? No clicky on vid links at work.
No...it is the font conference one, with fonts taking on personae and arguing with each other.
Comic Sans is the hero.
Since German and Hitler have been mentioned in just a few posts I present this link:

It's the "identity standards" for the SS. ^ PDF is a 24 mb download.
Nice find. Thx. Old Germanic font is a tad challenging to read!
It has pretty pictures, though.
Yeah, check out the dudes somewhere around pg. 80. Jerks.
It's a nice little slice of history. But at least they knew what a maintaining an image/logo standards meant. Unlike some of the businesses around here.
I have a PDF somewhere displaying Hitler's work in art school. He was actually quite the artist. Amazing work.
I wonder if he'd have a gallery on Deviant Art if he were around today.
I doubt it. His work had a very Victorian feel to it. I'll see if I can dig it up.
Einsturzende Neubauten. Haven't seen that name since my friend gave me a CD with a big 'ol red horsie on it. If I remember correctly I quite liked it.

That's my favorite album, too. Don't forget, that horse is pissing.
