Quote from: Joe on April 22, 2024, 11:26:05 AMFrom not so good memory try looking for an action called "Select text by key phrase".

That's the kiddie Joe, but you might need to merge the text first.
If it appears as individual characters you can merge to words/lines depending on what you are searching for.

On Mac it should all be there in the application preferences.
Not sure if that's in the global library or the local user one, but you can grab those pref files.
#3
You can actually do this in PitStop if you have it?

Shameless plug coming, but we've replaced quite a few Dynastrips with Impostrip since they closed.
If anyone would like to learn more about the product just drop me a line.

Unsupported and End of Life as I am sure you know.

Open the file in Acrobat
Go to 'Save as Other' > 'Optimized PDF'

then when that opens in the top right hand corner of the panel is a button 'Audit Usage'

that will analyze the file and tell you what is generating the size.

Share the results if you can, that will help find a solution (or not) ;D

Flatten Transparency
Convert to RGB
Subset Fonts
Downsample (not too low)
Lose any ICC Profiles/Output Intents
Crop images to their clip box (no rebate),
if it's online the probably only want the trim box
Remove metadata
Get rid of any objects outside the trim box
Change compression to squeeze it more, just watch for artifacts.
and always 'save as', never 'save'

Acrobat Audit usage tells you where the size is

There used to be an Acrobat plugin that did this, 'Seps to Comp' I think it was called.
That was in the days of before transparency so you only had to worry about knockout and overprint.
I can imagine nowadays that with transparency it's a much more complex operation.

You can draw a rectangle on the page using the 'Select Area' tool and the grab it using the eyedropper, much, much more flexible.

Adobe Acrobat / Re: RGB to Gray action

I'm doing well. Moved to Montreal, Canada last year, and immersed myself in Imposition, Nesting and Ganging, and some Finishing automation.
Still looking at bad pdf's, though a lot of them are really, really large VDP jobs that cause output issues.
Still keeping my hand in with preflight and PDF editing.
You know what it's like, you never stop learning. Always new challenges.

Not to confuse the issue, but in an Action List you can override the color management preferences you have defined to something new, run the action and then put the color management back the way it was.

I use to like turning the color management off that way for conversions to grayscale, then it was more about the density and color range of the original image being converted directly to Grayscale, without an ICC conversion getting in the way.
