My understanding is they want to be able to scan a barcode, which would identify the product and then scan a location (bin or rack location) in the warehouse for work in progress material, finished products, and supplies. The thought would be a tow motor driver could look up any product on a tablet type screen and know exactly where it is located in the warehouse. Of course, management wants to be able know where everything is without leaving their desk...LOL

What warehouse inventory system/software does your company use?

We are wanting to invest in a better system and I guess they thought a Prepress guy might know.

Thanks for your participation.  :)

Been awhile since working with a PC, but I had a lot of success with Linotype Font Explorer X.

Are your hard copy proofs getting processed through another rip after you send the data from Prinergy?

General Prepress / Komori PCC
January 19, 2016, 09:08:41 AM
We have experienced something unusual with our PCC software. When we link the .ppf file in K-station, it shows the preview of each surface correctly. But when you look at the ink keys instead of the preview of the surface, the surfaces are flopped (Top of the web on the bottom of the web and vice-versa). Because the coverage was so heavy on one side of the surface, it was noticed by our pressman and he questioned the preset to us. If we re-create the preset, the surfaces are correct. We have been trying to re-create the problem but have been unsuccessful.  :banghead:  Any ideas?

General Prepress / Shingling/Creep
November 30, 2015, 12:37:35 PM
We apply shingling for all our products, which include Catalogs/Magazines (8-1/2 x 11) and our digest size products (5-3/8" x 8-3/8"). We have a software that all we have to do is select the paper stock and tell it how many pages. It calculates the shingle amount to enter into Preps. I would assume we all have some type of formula for shingle/creep. My question is: Do you calculate shingle/creep differently for digest size products versus Catalog/Magazine size?

Kodak Preps / Re: Preps 7

We are going through Prinergy upgrade training. Our trainer has indicated that the ability to "Print" specific signature ranges out of Preps will return in Prinergy/Preps 7.5.
He informed us that we are not the first to ask about it. As a matter of fact, in his last training session, someone asked the same question.

Kodak Preps / Re: Preps 7

I understand there are many ways to handle impositions. It appears the way we used to be able to process them in Preps 5 is no longer an option in Preps 7. Thanks for all the input.

DCurry-
You mean you can print specific signatures after you created the imposition?

Correct Joe.
I am really going to miss this option. :tantrum:

In Preps 5, you could print a specific range and even a specific side of an imposition. Is there a way to do that in Preps 7?

Kodak Systems / Re: Prinergy Color Convert Setting
November 06, 2015, 07:24:45 AM
The files we are receiving are PDFs, no natives. I agree with you Joe, that we do not want to overprint CMYK, so shouldn't it be selected?
Mikie- I think some of our clients do not realize that they are setting the black fills to overprint in Indesign. Through some testing, we found by selecting that option, it would knockout the black fills and trap (if necessary).

We really appreciate the feedback!!  ;D

Kodak Systems / Prinergy Color Convert Setting
November 05, 2015, 02:39:34 PM
We are looking for some insight into the setting under the color convert "Set CMYK Colors to knockout" in the refine process template. Currently, we have it deselected when we are processing pages. We have seen a few instances where black fills overprint images and also had black text that was set behind blue text, overprint the blue text. If we have the "Set CMYK Colors to Knockout" selected then it fixes those issues. But what are the risks of causing errors by turning it on? Who has it selected, who has it deselected, and why? Thanks for your input.  ;D
