Servus Slab from Adobe Typekit maybe?

Is it something consistent that you could just drop another overlapping element in as a watermark to extend the existing element?

For this type of situation, since I'm not very script knowledgable, I would just go back to the data file, re-sort all of the columns on the e-mail, do a fill/down of the literal  Email____________________. Then re-sort the columns back to the original order.

Maybe print it in reverse order, then make a "mock' 2-page document to run those sheets back through for stapling?
Seems like this would be easier than trying to run 1,000 pdf files through CWS.

My guess..,

The hard return below the type is set to an AUTO leading. Since the type is set to align to the bottom, your letting the AUTO function drive the positioning.
 If you type a character on that lower line, it changes to a 16pt leading and will act normally when copied.
