I Just read this morning Quebecor World is closing one of its plants in North Haven Conn. "This is aimed at reducing costs and improving productivity across the chain by consolidating volume in larger and more efficient facilities." My translation to this is Quebecor is moving to mexico and China. I've been to this same plant in North Haven Conn. when it was called NorthEast Graphics, a printer once located in NYC. This is one huge plant, containing over 350,000 sf of floor space. An extremely modern facility and it looked efficient to me, a matter of fact it looked to be the most efficient plant I've ever visited. I'd love to see this new, larger, more efficient facility and the skill level of their employees. 

Trust me, as an ex-employee of Quebecor it is nothing more than piss poor management.

Northeast Graphics was once a thriving company on it's own, then swallowed up by World Color that was swallowed up by Quebecor. After World Color bought it we got a huge 8 up Hell imagesetter from them but when they uninstalled it on their end, instead of unplugging the cables, they just cut them off and we had to buy all new cables. I took it at that time they weren't happy with the buyout. :laugh:

It is sad to see the destruction that Quebecor has rained down on people in this trade. The town where I live still has not recovered.

I recall World Color's buyout was around $372,000,000, a bargain in today's money. I'm sure this will economically hurt the simi rural town plenty.

yup, heard that was happening a few months ago actually. Gonna be nothing left in this stape but copy max and Allied.. . . 

Sounds like Quebecor is like the Walmart of Printing.

Maybe... but Walmart is not in Chapter 11 right now.
