Seems I remember something about having to change the extension if you are trying to open it in a later version of Quark. Try changing it to .qxd
tried that already - no joy - its looking like a damaged file from an old cd/archive. no big deal if i cant resurrect it - its from 2001
cheers tho
It should be Option(mac) or Alt(win).
What's the error when you try to open ?
cheers stiv - thats the one!!:). sadly didnt work
I/O error - i think it was prolly damaged when it was burnt to the cd - i was hoping to restore it but it doesn't - ahh well
thanks very much anyway folks
feel free to jack the thread.
What's the file size ?
291 megs mate
Poor, Beer. It's only Quack. If you have "downtime", just rebuild it in Indy.
look lady - how do i know what the frell it looks like if i cant open it huh? :ohno:
No hardcopy to look at? Good gravy, man! Here... Have a pint on me.
Were you opening from the CD?Did you try copying the file to the desktop?
yeah zim - file's on desktop - i think its screwed - ahh well - it most prolly wont repeat - if it does they'll have to re-supply it
thanks again
I don't suppose it's Passport, different error.
naa that'd say "cant be opened by this version - needs passport" (or similar)
thanks tho
I believe Markzware has software that can fix corrupt Quark files but it's not free. Might be worth looking into if you really need it.

Try this. I believe this might be what you are looking for.
Hey, he said to "Jack the thread" so what's with these helpful posts?
Try making a duplicate and opening the new one. It's worked for me once in a while. Quark is one program that requires trying things that don't make sense.
nice idea possum - tried and failed
According to Mr. sketchpad, that was a Cmd>Open, beer... :undecided:
If it's a really old file, like before version 5, InDesign can open it.

"Command: open beer" what I use to say to my ex.

Thanks, Beer! Best compliment I've had all year - including last year.
