I was just doing some reading on the latest specs (as per Nov 2017) for the now-obsolete Nexus workflow, and lo-and-behold, lookee here:

Nexus on Mac
Operating system: Mac OS X Server or client: 10.6x, 10.7x, 10.8x, Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks, Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, macOS 10.12 Sierra (macOS 10.12 High Sierra is not supported).

Nexus Manager
Operating system: Mac OS X 10.6x, 10.7x, 10.8x, Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks, Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, macOS 10.12 Sierra (macOS 10.12 High Sierra is not supported).

Looks like we can upgrade our OS and still run, and be able to upgrade our Adobe apps beyond CC2014 now.

Joe: any issues that you know of upgrading from 10.8.5 to 10.12 Sierra, besides the fact that folder labelling is gone?

Jumping 4 versions can always be dicey. I would do one and test it before proceeding with the others. Folder labeling gone? You mean color coding them. You can still do it but it just shows as a colored dot to the right of the folder name. You get used to it.

I may just bring in my laptop from home. I think I have Nexus Manager installed on it and I'm running 10.12 Sierra. If everything works, I should be able to hook into our LAN, connect with our Nexus server and see if all of our workflows show up and can be manipulated. If that works I may update my workstation only and run for a month or so. I think that's what I did when we upgraded from SL to ML last time, but that was only two versions up.

Ok Joe - the other thing I've noticed is that there doesn't seem to be a way/option of opening a new window when you open a new folder, which is a bit of a PITA. On previous versions up to 10.8.5, you could check that preference in Finder preferences. Have you heard of any work-arounds? Doesn't seem to be any on the goog.

Uncheck this box:

and then right click a folder to select 'Open in New Window' or COMMAND+DOUBLE CLICK to open the folder in a new window.

Thanks Joe. I wonder why the developers at Apple discontinued the "easy" way to do things e.g.: labelling and the folder/open windows thing. It almost seems like they are making the system more difficult (inconvenient?) to work with instead of intuitive, like it used to be. The Apple forums that I'm reading seem to indicate that they are being deaf to calls to bring back certain features that have been deleted. Arrogance or maybe indifference?

I'm pretty sure it is arrogance...and trying to meld OS X and iOS into the same operating system eventually.
