Looked cool - just made it functional in my own OS but haven't used it yet.

Had a job come through here that dropped the images when the spots were converted to process in the prescan. If the spots were left to pass through then the images magically appeared.

Talked to Rampage and they suggested to let the spots pass through and then run the pages through the RDT (RIP Data Transform).

I usually like files to work when RIPped the first time but this RDT interests me. Anyone have experience with the RDT?

What version Mac OS can you go up to and still be able to run Preps 5?

We only have one Mac left under 10.6 and it is the Preps station and it is sputtering.

Anyone have one? I'd like your opinion.

Rampage v12 is throwing errors in the prescan on Quark PDFs. Unfortunately, the PDFs are coming in from clients and we can't try to make our own PDFs from their files. The prescan settings can all be turned off and still the error occurs.

Rampage is working on the issue but has anyone else had any problems with Quark PDFs? (That's a loaded question I know.)

I had the trail clamps replaced but the tech didn't reset the counter.

I've tried the four-finger Vulcan mind meld with the monitor but that only gets me the language choices.

The 9000 has an additional two-finger code but the 8600 doesn't seem to want to let me in that way.

Anyone have any ideas?

So the v12 install is over and v12 is awesome!

We need to put the RSI, Jobs and Fonts onto it's own server. Currently the server is hosting the entire company.

We are putting OS 10.6 on after a clean format.

Question is this - what am I missing? Can it/ will it be this easy?

I vaguely remember DCS files but I don't think these are DCS and I can't get these to RIP as OPI, fat EPS or as a PDF.

There has to be someway to get these layers into a single file. I mean we put a man on the moon, right?

I tried INDD CS6, QXP 8, PS CS6 but they all threw errors.

I can't even place the individual colors, only the EPS.

Any ideas?

Back when we had designers, we used Cumulus for our art database. It turns out that it was deleted years ago.

What are some good alternatives? Looking for free if possible.

I guess my original thread is in China.  So here goes...

I have the CTP device programmed with the new plate size. I have output the Centering EPS from the Preps Punch Utility. I dropped that EPS onto the plate imposition RIP profile and imaged a plate. The test has imaged in the exact center of the plate. That was easy, (too easy?).

I have a template made in Preps for the new plate size. I have a 19x25 test pattern from AGFA that I have imposed onto a 19x25 sheet on that new plate size.

I am using the punch coordinates, X axis - B punch, from another plate size that is just 1mm smaller, 205 vs. 206 mm.

I have an image on the plate, which I am not positive is in the correct position. The press is still 2 days from a testing condition.

Now here is my question/issue. If I use another measurement as my Preps X-Axis, the image barely moves. I have 11.125" entered and if I use 1.125", the image only moves .25" on the plate.  I was hoping the X-Axis measurement would have moved the image on the plate as much as I had adjusted the X-Axis number.

I have not tried to adjust the position using the Press Sheet Edge to Punch Center measurement in the template. I am inclined to leave this as this is a specification from the press.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Have 5.3.3 Preps Plus.
Assuming that we can upgrade to Pro in 5.3.x, is the auto-ganging function any good? Preps 6 learning curve scares me as my new co-workers don't have any impo experience. Metrix is also being looked at.

After jobs have come in we are going to analyze sizes/quantities and place multiple jobs on the same imposed flat. There won't be a lot of time to mess around with templates as this analysis will be around 3:00 p.m. and will need to hit the presses shortly after. Currently our overlords are imposing these in InDesign.

There has to be a better way. Help!

Is there a learning curve or will I hit the ground running?

Seems they are all starting to restrict access. Will the domino effect take all the sharing sites down?

I just found that http://www.filesonic.com/ has started a new policy - "All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally."

So, am I now responsible for what my clients upload to my FTP?

Am I correct that Rampage v10.6 strips the ICC profiles and does not apply the ICC profile when RIPping?

I have been doing postcards forever and now I have a 16 page 8.5 x 11 doc with variable data on a few pages.

My problem is that I need to output this thing in spreads. I don't see how unless I break this doc down into 12 x 18 spreads and I would end up with 4 separate 12 x 18 docs with variable data.

Is this how you guys do it?

I thought I had this solved but it has reared it's ugly head again.

If a Zip5, ZIP4 or DP2 starts with a 0 then it is dropping the 0.

I use a CSV and had been formatting the cells to the proper amount of numbers needed. Now that is no longer working.

I saved the CSV as a TXT tab delimited file but XMPie is still dropping the leading zeros.

Any ideas?
