Hi,
VERY Basic question :( making confusion

I have tri-fold brochure with lots of small embedded images in illustrator with set resolution minimum 300 (average 150res for all),

My questions are,
How to check if that PDF will be printed fine ?
Can we export this file as a PDF with 300 resolution images for all  ?

Thanks

Farabomb

Providing the original images are high res (used to be 300dpi, now it seems to be whatever doesn't look horrible) and you export it as press ready or even better, PDF/X-4 it should come out ok. You did design the trifold to compensate for the folding leaving the panel that tucks inside a bit shorter, correct?

If you're really worried about it you can upload it and I'll run it through my system and see what comes up.

You can't export it as 300 for all if they are not 300

can you print out a copy?, it may be fine.

Hi,
I just shared a PDF with you in a private message, can you check it please.

Thanks

Farabomb

It does have quite a few low res product shots but I'm assuming that "all they have". Some are pretty dicey but if this was our job we'd proof it, point out all the images and let the customer decide.

 Excellent question F-bomb! I thought we were supposed to ignore all of that technical folding mumbo jumbo and just let the bindery deal with it :sarcasm: .

I have the file but I didn't even check it for folding. I'm quite busy cleaning my keyboard one key at a time.

Holy crap...you still using the old white keyboards?

When the aluminum keyboards came out I hated them and longed for the old white one. Now that I am used to the aluminum keyboards I can't stand the old white ones.

I'm on snow leopard man, do you really think I'd have a remotely new keyboard?

I remember complaining to you guys about the aluminum keyboards mainly because I lost the number pad. Now I don't care and also type like a tard on the old ones.

wonderings

If the images are questionable and that is all you got from the customer, set it all up and send them a proof. Tell them about your concerns. The ball is in their court if they want to let it run like that or not. You cannot had resolution, so they need to either OK it or provide new artwork. We get this now and then and this is how we do it. Never had an issue, either get new files or they say run it. Either way the blame is not in our hands if they decide after they are no longer happy with it.
