Just a warning if you have to install Java on your Mac that the above versions now by default installs the ask.com toolbar and changes your browser home page to ask.com just like the Windows version of Java has for some time. So don't blindly click through the dialogs. Uncheck the option to NOT install the ask.com toolbar.

(This has been a public service announcement) ;D

Fuck ask.com.

"There's been a lot of research recently on how hard it is to dislodge an impression once it's been implanted in someone's mind. (This is why political attack ads don't have to be true to be effective. The other side can point out their inaccuracies, but the voter's mind privileges the memory of the original accusation, which was juicier than any counterargument ever could be.)"

I read that the Java updater installer is so badly written that many times the ask dotcom toolbar doesn't even install correctly, and that the opt out buttons aren't always visible or easy to find. Why can't Java just DIE already??

Kodak Insite uses Java so we have to have it...for now. The upcoming version of Insite will be 100% Java free. I can't wait.

I've heard June from a support person. Not sure if that will be an early production thing that only a few can get or if they will make it available to all.

But I know once Oracle starts pushing the Java 8 Update 40 we're going to have some pissed off Mac users that will blindly click through the installer without paying attention and then blame us for the adware on their Macs. It hasn't been that big of a deal for Windows users because most Windows users PC's are already infected with adware, crapware, trojans and viruses before they ever get around to downloading Java so one more piece of crap doesn't bother them.

So it's your fault that they don't pay attention?

I've been getting that on windows for a while but I don't click blindly.

Well you are afflicted with that whole "having a brain" issue so you don't count.

And yes, it's our fault because we use Insite that requires Java and when they get the message that Java is required they then call us to see what they should do. We tell them they have to install java. Bingo! Anything after that is our fault.

Sadly, I believe you will be proven correct.  :strangle:

We are running Prinergy 6.1 and Preps 7.1 live. Who needs testing? What could possibly go wrong?
