Looks like my issue is just with the font Cambria.
I switched the font in Word, and saved as PDF, no issue.

Cambria is the new default font for Microsoft Word. If it is an OpenType font you can copy it to the Mac and use it there. OpenType fonts work on both PC's and Mac's.

Quote from: Grimace on October 12, 2010, 02:11:48 PMWell, I went through and checked for duplicate fonts and resolved those, and I still get crud from the Word doc.

I'll send it home and see what happens on my iMac at home.

I'm guessing to resolve font issues, I will need to delete all my fonts and then reinstall with Font Exchange or something?
Freaking hate font issues. I have looked here in the past and it sounds as if there is no tried and true font system that doesn't eventually crap out, Yeah?

Before you do all that, let's examine what exactly your font issues are. I'm thinking you either have conflicting fonts in the many places OSX puts them. Or, you don't have the required MS set that originally installed with Word. Could be a combination of the 2, or a third option, which is a font you have loaded, is replacing the required font in Word.

Here is my set-up through Linotype Font Explorer. (Highly Recommended) The other folders are labeled appropriately.

I also have a font set for the factory installed fonts for Office.

What a coincidence... Microsoft is a font sadist. Sounds like a marriage made at Denny's.

You don't pull it off nearly as good as Youston, I give it a 4.

Man, I'm getting kinda pissed.
All of our new iMacs, with fresh installs, no carry over software or fonts from other macs, will not handle this Cambria thing.

I can create a PDF that opens in Acrobat just fine.

If I open that same PDF in Illustrator it all goes to sh!t.

 WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!

I only care about this because since Cambria is the Word default, I just know I will be getting many more of these...

Grimace

I don't have Cambria installed on my computer, how come i can still select it from my Illustrator fonts?
