That is an awesome poem.

I've met a whole bunch of different people on the net. Some even in real life. People say "that's not really meeting/knowing someone" but that's bullshit. There are some I know IRL that I don't "know". Hell, I got surprised by family that I thought I knew...

Through the net I'm in my present position running a race shop and honestly, have a new family through that was well. For a severe introvert, that's pretty good.

That really sucks. He was a really smart dude and from talking to him on hatebook and such he had an interesting life. He really knew his shit about PDFs and would also explain the hows and whys so not only did you get your answer, you learned something too. He's going to be missed.

I didn't really understand beyond he had something going on medically wise. He was always fighting it and overall upbeat. Guess when you're fighting shit like that you have to be.

I'm running into a similar problem at the car shop with service writers. It seems most of the newer generation don't understand what work is. They "try" but don't do things to completion and don't have the ability to think on their feet. If there are instructions they can follow them most times but if it requires thinking, they fail.

My present one formats his brain nightly. It's like the movie 50 first dates but he's not nearly as cute as Drew Barrymore and I'm getting real tired of babysitting.

That's a big ass plate. I assume very carefully was how you move those.

Ran those plates for years. Depending on the mood of the pressman I would get some complaints of fingerprints. Sine I was the only one doing everything, I know where I handle the plates and anytime they would show up, it was nowhere near the edges where I grab them.

I've seen some prints but they were in the platebend and gripper so it wasn't a major issue. Since it's handfed I'd have the loaders only use the edges and see how that works.

It's not a question of your ability anymore, It's finding the place that has the work and is willing to pay for your skill.

Light? When I was in prepress we were treated like mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed shit.

I always check the unit price. There are times where the "sale" really isn't the best deal.

Then I end up with a closet full of toilet paper.

I'd be happy to pay under $2/gal for fuel. It was $2.70 when I did my first fill up in NY.

Small Computer Systems Interface. I remember a time where apple was bleeding edge and had SCSI onboard. Most PCs needed a card to run a SCSI interface. It was smoking fast for the time if a bit of a pain in the balls to get working.

Ahh when apple was an innovator. Now they are a marketing company.

As Joe said, you want one with a separate video card. The on board video has come a long long way but having a separate card is always the way to go.

Well you convinced me to at least look at Dells when I go to get another laptop. I second the windows pro option as well. The home versions are always crippled in the most annoying ways.

I picked up a 500g samsung 860 EVO for $91 on amazon about a week ago. It's one of the best SSDs out there. There is also a pro version that wasn't worth it for my application but you may want to look into it if it helps with AutoCAD.

Nothing a nuke from orbit fresh install won't fix. In fact my new one was a HP open box from BestBuy. They neglected to reset the password or give me one so I was locked out of my brandy new laptop. A few hours later and fresh install and it was mostly good to go. After I cleaned up some of the bloat still left.

You're telling me that dell ships totally clean, not even a trial of office or anti "virus" software installed? Not sure I can believe that.

My next computer will be a self built one even if it costs more. My last build is over 10 years old and has been underwater while running and is still fine. Yes, some parts have failed like RAM but since I buy Corsair I have a lifetime warranty. Last time they asked if it was OK to double my RAM because they don't make a kit that small anymore.

I'm not a fan of windows 10 so far. Nothing seems to be where it should be and since this is also a tablet I get extra bullshit. One day I booted it and the desktop was replaced by a bunch of tiles. Seems it somehow went into tablet mode and I had no idea.

Newegg and microcenter are my goto places for PC stuff. I'm not a fan of Dells because they are the ones I've had the most problems with. HP has been my choice lately. Are you getting a desktop or a laptop? Some of the newer laptops are pretty beefy and should have no issue running AutoCAD. Make sure with whatever you get to have a SSD and max out the memory. Either have it speced that way (more expensive) or add it later. My new laptop was slow as shit with the stock HDD but the SSD made it worlds better.

Joe's idea of a 8g thumb drive is a good one. I use them as well but instead of throwing them into a drawer, I tape them inside the case if it's a desktop. For laptops I use micro SD cards and stick them in the external enclosure I use for backups and storage.
