Sheesh...that is a pretty low wage these days for a CEO. The guy is probably on food stamps.

I had heard this before about Kodak and Heidelberg and i just got confirmation of it from a former Heidelberg offset press tech who was in our shop last week.
BUT....maybe he was confusing Kodak with AGFA.....who knows.

Fuji's plate price went up 35%. The quote we got from Kodak would save us $72k a year if we switched.

We used them and are in transition to them. They seem better for detail than our Trillian plates, but we have to buy remaing stock of plates, so someday.

Considering chemical balance at our place is mesa mesa I look forward to the new plates.

I can officially confirm that Heidelberg is now using the Kodak Sonora Xtra as it's process free plate offering to its customers.
Just had our Heidelberg rep in here yesterday and we are going to be testing the Sonora Xtra through our Supersetter 106 CTP.
Then onto our 40 inch Heidelberg press's.

We have KBA 106s and the Kodak process free plates are too light for the autoloader feature to work on these presses. We used to run the Fuji process free plates and they were dark enough for the KBAs.

This slows the press operators down a little bit, but management is ok with it, seeing the cost difference.

Plus we got a deal on our plates through Kodak, seeing we purchased a new Magnus with a palette loader. Which is quite nice.

I believe the Kodak Sonora Xtra plate has fixed the issue with the image being too light.
Or at least it is better.  We will see next week when we test.

Our procesless Fuji plates were too light to see the image at first, but the new generation is dark enough to check things.

The first gen Kodak plates were quite a bit lighter than the current revision. But it is still too light for our KBA cameras. But they are working just fine for actual printing.

We used to use Windex with Vinegar to clean up the area with the codes for the cameras, but have since decided not to, as it was taking too much time for the person making plates. It was a PITA for plater anyways. All good now.
