RAID 6 vs RAID 1+0

Thanks Matt. In para 3, he says 'I'd choose RAID 10'. I gather he meant 'RAID 1+0'. Obvious, but thought I'd mention it.

O...K. Looks like the terms are interchangeable. Maybe. Call it 1+0...or 10.   :undecided:  Worth looking at at upgrade time (and we're not too far off, maybe). Even just to see the IT Crowd's faces when you ask...   :laugh:

I went with RAID 5 because I didn't want to give up 2 of my 4 TB drives for 6 or 1+0. With RAID 5 I only lost the one drive for parity and I'm OK with the risk of RAID 5.
