I work for a weekly paper and we want to start making PDFs of the entire paper available for download/viewing each week on our website. The paper is typically either 28 or 32 pages, 11x17, most pages in B&W, the rest full color.
I've been playing around with different PDF options and I can't seem to get a single page PDF smaller than 1.3Mb - and that's reducing it to 8.5 x 11" size with 72dpi downsampling for images. I've tried both exporting as PDF from Indy and creating a Postscript file to distill, and am getting better (smaller) files using the ps/distill method.
Is there anything I can do to compress the PDFs any further? Lots of people around here still use dialup Internet. Yes, really.
