Prinergy upgrades

We were running 4.0.2.0.38 since install.
We avoided 4.0.2.1e due to reports of major problems with Archive.
We waited until we heard 4.0.2.2e was clean and did our upgrade:

It does fix everything that was promised, the cross-linked and / or invisible jobs are all fixed, and the few jobs that would not archive did so.

However, there's 1 problem, for reruns we used to make a COPY of an archived job, then RETRIEVE the copy and rename as new, THIS DOES NOT WORK and, get this, when I call service they answer immediately that it is a known problem! :evil:
We have an ugly work-around until it's "fixed in the new upgrade coming in a week or two"  :evil: :evil:
It sucks to do your homework and get burned anyway.
Avoid 4.0.2.1e and go to 4.0.2.2e with caution.

We are currently running 4.0.2.2e. I was told the Copy Job bug is only when you try to copy a job that was created in Prinergy 3. It is of course suppose to be fixed in 4.0.2.3.

What we do to get around it is Export the job and then Import it under a new job number. It doesn't bring over the UserDefinedFolder and Input files, but it gets the job done.

As great as it is, it seems like there is always something with Prinergy.

What I think is crazy is that this Copy Job feature was just added in v.4. Same with scrolling!!! Shouldn't both of those features been available in v.01?

You may like our work-around better Riot,
1. <RETRIEVE> the old job in Archived Jobs
2. Then <COPY> and enter new name, etc...
3. <PURGE> old job

(We used to copy then retrieve but that IS the bug, it fails now)

As great as it is, it seems like there is always something with Prinergy.

I think all RIPs are that way. Not just Prinergy. :cry:

We tried that before and it still doesn't work for the v.3 jobs. The only thing that works is the Export/Import. Hopefully 4.0.2.3 comes sooner than later. It is suppose to have support for 10.5 client as well. Kodak was saying late March in February and here it is April 15th.

Dang, that's too bad Riot, the soonest I heard the update was to be done was "about a week"
Let's hope there's some truth to that...
