I was printing something as usual and pressed the RIP and print button and left the room for a second.  I came back and the computer automatically restarted.  My Mutoh not responding.  After the computer booted back up, Wasatch program opened up on it's own and started spooling every file that's in the computer!!  My Mutoh is printing everything and is out of control!!

I shut off the printer several times and restarted the software and rebooted the computer several times and each time it's spooling like crazy trying to print everything!!  How do I make it stop?????

David

can you get to the printer que and kill the files that are in there?

I just thought to do that and was trying to delete this thread.  Thanks!  Do you have any idea why it caused this?  freaked me out a bit.

You are the bull in the digital china shop. Fear not. Soon, you'll be bored and medicated, like the rest of us. :drunk3:

Bored enough to be medicated?  No way I love this job! Aside from wanting to put a bat to every piece of equipment, once everything runs right I'm looking forward to life of leisure and probably not so much luxury in between jobs we get. Is this why they pay so little?  I bet u guys make at least double what I'm starting with.  Wondering what u guys print mostly..playboy calendars? God knows how long my boss can stay afloat as the garment industry is in the shitter around here. Makes me wonder about the bright future that lies ahead for me in this line of work.  I just stumbled on to this a few months back. Just happy I can put some clothes on my kid's back, literally as I'm printing him some custom shirts from my art days, and use a bit of photoshop knowledge. And I think i'm finally putting my A+ certification to some use from 20 years ago!  Well upgrading memory don't count.. strike that.

I can't speak for everyone here but yeah I light my cigars with hundred dollar bills and when we do color corrections on Playboy they bring the models in to compare the photos to so that we get it just right. We are rushed though to get the job done so we can start our 51 week vacation so there is the stress of that. Man I love my job!

Joe must be medicated right now.

Prepress sucks. The boss's think we just push buttons and consider it witchcraft. Since it's just pushing buttons it can't be all that hard and any monkey can do it. In a way, that's true. If you want it done correctly and quickly you need a skilled operator. The smart, successful owners are aware. The others wonder why they piss through prepressers.

I was A+ certified and such back in '99 but the market was so flooded I ended up in printing. Not sure if that was good or bad. At times we print some good things and other times I'm looking at before and after pictures of boob jobs. It's not nearly as good as you imagine. I'm paid well enough for prepress, the problem is I'm also the IT guy, sales, front office, delivery, load trucks for 4 different companies, ect. It's north of $20/hr but I've also been in printing for 15+ years. Then again, nobody thinks they get paid enough for what they do. Look at the fast food button pushers in NYC striking for $15/hr at a place that prides itself on their $1 menu.

So I shouldn't be complaining at $15 hour start cash.  Jesus, so if my calculations are correct, I have to be here give or take 10 years to break $20?  I shouldn't have quit my corporate banking job..  but then I wouldn't even be here cuz I was ready to hang myself.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention they work us overtime for free..  thus cash pay.  Do you guys get paid overtime?  I heard when it gets busy we're here till at least midnight many days of the week.

$15 cash isn't bad just watch out for the IRS. They want their cut so they will catch up with you.

Since I was pushed onto salary I don't get overtime in the money sense but I do get extra days off and other perks. It doesn't come close to being even but at least it's something. During the silly season (end of the financial year) I'm on call 24/7 with no OT. Since I'm a one man show vacations are not possible. I can go places but I'm expected to be reachable at all times an be able to remote in. Working for family sucks balls unless your dad is in government.

Yeah, in many states that's illegal and with recent federal law changes even MY employer has been careful to watch I don't go over my 40 as a salaried employee. Not sure what happens when I do inevitably have to run into OT though, should be interesting.

I may be wrong but I believe there is a little wiggle room for them. You won't get paid OT for 1 hour over 40 but work a bunch and they have to pay you. The only I can guarantee is that the government will side with the business owner and you'll be the one getting screwed.
