This job has bounced, several weeks down the track. There was talk of reprint...thought it had gone away. Find it on my bench after a day off; for reprint next week...fix vertical alignment of prices.
When I reopened the job about 2 weeks ago, coulda sworn they aligned....oops. Now, when I reopen it, seems to have reverted to the 'problem' alignment.
It's an Indy CS5 file. Am opening in CS5. Fonts are TTs, but show no probs in Find Font box.
Anyone know of a reason/reasons this may be happening. These people have a 'track record'. I am gonna have to be super careful with their stuff in future. Only occasional work, TG.

...oh, that colour jump on right is a spine, on a spread.

Looking at the screen shot...what is wrong with it? For example is the word delicious and $40.00 supposed to be aligned vertically? If that is the case they didn't put their $40.00 text box in the right place.

$50.00, and $100.00 .... looks like they want the dollar signs to left justify, as they do so in this shot. My doc has thrown the $40.00 off to the right.
I'll need to confirm that though, before I fixed it. Assuming the worst at this stage... PICNIC... I've [oops] moved the $40.00 to the right.

I suppose I'm alsi asking if such a thing could happen when the job is opened on my Mac, without me touching it?

Well if they don't align the textboxes, the text is not going to align. Did they think it would just magically align because they wanted it to?

It is a PICNIC error. No question about it.

An no, such a thing could not happen just by opening it.

I think their lasers showed alignment. Raking over the coals at his stage. Coulda been me.  After opening it.  Rogue mouse... you know, that one.

Just gotta be sure they get what they wanted this time.   :whatever:

Yeah well, I would have to see the lasers to believe it.

Ya, def not a font issue. Could happen if the price text frames were inline in the other text frame but they look like they're on their own.

No mystery here.

So,  :drunk3: i send the job to the rip with live transparecy (v 1.7 or whatever) and it craps out with a memory error.

coulda been done with tabs and set the alignment there and it would stay. I like it when they get all creative and put in a bazillion text boxes for stuff that a good set of tabs would have taken care of.

We should have a contest for the page with the most text boxes. I'll post a shot with frame edges showing the next time I come across such a beast.

This one won't win any awards, but it's got quite a few. Also, like so many customers, they don't know how to use tabs.

If I fix a customer file, I usually send it to them and tell them to use it on re-orders. That way they work with MY file. It's beautiful too when they listen (of course most of the time they don't). Check this bad boy out - damn near perfect! I also included a "before."

Glad to see I don't get all the crappy jobs.

I think it was way back at PPF someone posted a screen grab of a file from a dezinger. It was horrendous. "Could she have used another guide?" was the name of the thread, I think.

I tried to register for PPF a loooong time ago, but something went wrong and I was never registered and forgot about it.
Still have it in my bookmarks tho.
