Yea, I was a Meta Admin/User running IS Classic for 5+ years. From 2400/150 - 2540/200lpi - NO MOIRES EVER.
It's really amazing, but we seriously didn't have any issues at all with our dots/screens/moires/etc. Made my life easy all those years!! Thanks Dr. Hell!!

EDIT: those cubbies are looking good Mark..... really good. And you guys just picked Rich Harden, who is **nasty** when he's healthy. Good rotation going, best of luck - see you in the Post Season maybe!

I have a vendor who runs a Nexus set up and applies distortion some how. For labels printed Flexo & Letter Press.
He asks for separated PDFs, applies distortion, and bang! Although, come to think of it - he says it's to avoid Moire, not fit registration.... I could get some more details if you'd like.

General Prepress / Re: Why convert to PDF workflow?
June 30, 2008, 07:50:37 PM
1) There will be only one file conversion upfront to PDF, rather than convert to EPS upfront then to PDF later down stream.
This will streamline your workflow, and eliminate one POSSIBILITY for errors; resulting in savings overall. It also eliminates the second check in your workflow, as there will be no need to check that EPS that's been converted to PDF. Again savings in time, and time is money - also possibly proofing materials, if there is an error found after hardcopy proof. Now you are talking the boss man's language. $$$

2) PDFs are small, and in my opinion handle fonts better if you aren't outlining them in the EPS.

3) Easily edited/corrected at the last minute, eliminate going back to the EPS, correcting, and running through the workflow if last minute edits are needed.

4) PDF workflow's could be considered a more "open" system. Sounds good. ; )

Just a few ideas. Good Luck!

You need to linearize the HP via Color Proof Pro.
It's very easy.

CTP - CTF / Re: Processless Violet Plates

Quote from: beermonster on June 27, 2008, 09:17:36 AMhello Vee - good to have you here mate

i agree - clean out in pre-press seems a more logical approach to me

now for us, we use ONE plate size only - its the BOARD size that changes

so my question regarding precessless (pro-T or kodak etc)

plate size is 1030 x 800
board size is 600 x 400

when cleaning out on press, where does the debris from the plate go - that is OUTSIDE of my board size? (ie: i have 700mm left to right excess and 400 mm off back edge - where does the coating go coz it cant go on the board)

this is one reason that pushed me to chem free thermal - no light issues at all, cleaned out plate, no chemistry changes on press - no nuffink

Thanks Beer.
Board... are you with a folding carton printer??

Quote from: Marktonk on June 13, 2008, 08:50:31 AMHi Vee,

Good to hear from you. It will require a clean out unit that does two things, it has a preheat section to harden the plate and then a gum solution to clean and protect the plate. Exposure will have to be set up for this particular emulsion.  After clean out it is no longer white light sensitive and the plate has excellant contrast.

Best regards,

Mark

I anticipated a different unit for bake/gum instead of the Raptor processor. It was the tweaking of the exposure I was most curious about... thanks.

Greetings Mark,
Is it a drop in solution, or might it require a little tweaking on existing Prosetters?

Sounds like T. Smith needs to make a trip to my area and upgrade the ol guys at the print shop!

Yo yo - Jez! Things are good here in sunny NC. Howz about you?

I downloaded the filezilla, I'll give it a go. I was just wondering if it was my system or the combination/upgrade/etc....

So thanks for the suggestions. I'll post back with any updates on the topic.

Hope you are well.

Best,

Heidelberg / Re: Delta = POS?

Well then.. sounds like you know the answer. And it would be an easy fix. Put the right box in there and be done with it.
Apparently the "custom pc" is not a sound solution, and causing more problems than it's worth. Then you could have a service contract and life would be good!
Again, just my .02...

I hope you get it worked out.

Macintosh / FireFTP > OS X 10.5.2
March 04, 2008, 08:32:43 PM
What's up guys,

Anyone experiencing any problems or tried using FireFTP (Inside Firefox) running on 10.5.2?
Ever since going from 10.4.11 > 10.5.2, it will not work.

Details-
MacBook Pro - Intel 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo w/ 3GB RAM running 10.5.2 and Firefox 2.0.0.12 - FireFTP 0.97.1

TIA

I'll bet my nice new pay check -
If you actually call Heidelberg and get them to come out to the shop, they'll fix it or tell you what the problem is.

Service contract is worth every penny. I had one for a LONG time! Sometimes I didn't see a Heidelberg tech for months... but when I needed them, they were there in a matter of hours. Lost production - minimal, and maybe even more important.... aggravation - none.
Just my .02

Quote from: pdboddy on January 18, 2008, 10:20:20 AMBut then again, if you need to edit... wouldn't it be better to work with the original file and export a pdf when you're done?

Yes it would be better to edit the original..... I just like to keep my options open, in case I need to make a small/quick edit when checking the PDF. That's all.
