We got CS3. Only here and there do we get CS4 files. Sure CS5 will be on there way too...
I know we need to upgrade at somepoint. Don't see any major reason to do it just yet.

If anyone has any reason (besides photoshops new clone magic whatever you call it tool, which I LOVE)
Please let me know...

And does anyone know for SURE... do you need Intel mac to run CS5? Hard 2 believe??

Now is a great time to upgrade as you can get CS4 immediately and then get CS5 at no additional cost when it starts shipping. Ends April 29th I think.

CS5 does require Intel only CPU's. PPC is dead to CS5.

Disregard that April 29th date. That is for something else.

Also I've read (in one of those links at the Adobe forums) that if you buy CS4 and get the upgrade to CS5 for free that you have to sign some kind of waiver that you will destroy your copy of CS4. Don't know if that is true though. I'm not upgrading anyway.

What I've heard, that statement is for the educational copy only, Joe.
If you get the retail version, you can keep both.

:offtopic: I used to work for a guy that bought only educational versions. I had no idea when I called for support and gave them my serial number and they told me it was an educational version and that I wasn't supposed to be using it for business. :ohno:

In answer to the second part of the question, CS5 is Intel only. So be prepared to dump a boatload of cash if you have an older Mac.

even if you have an Intel, you need to shell out more for additional Ram, for sure.

So what's the "limited time"? We just upgraded to CS4 in January. Free upgrade or not?

the time period for the free upgrade was April 12 to May something
you have to purchase CS4 after April 12 and before the ship date of CS5
