I can get it to work fine in InDesign 5.5 just not 6 :banghead:  Just trying to figure out why? Maybe I don't have a proper plug in?

No security on file.

Here is a single page PDF from Quark. Like I said whenI import it into Indd 5.5 no issues but into 6 it just crashes.
#4
InDesign crashes! No matter what I do it crashes. But if I use the same PDF from Quark and place it in InDesign CS5.5, no problems!

I can't bring PDF's made in Quark 8.5 into InDesign CS6 and export another PDF. What Am I missing? I can bring them into InDesign CS 5.5 and export fine? Please help me out!

Keep them all the same, let the cutter and folder short it if they see the need. (Shouldn't need to)

Adobe Photoshop / Re: Retaining Blacks

In Acrobat I use the Advanced tab and then use the convert colors. I use the setting of Gray Gamma 1.8. This converts my rgb or cmyk images to gray scale and lets my 100% black type as 100% black.

Quote from: Dawn on July 14, 2011, 09:20:10 AMAnyone having issues with making PDF's out of Quark 8.5.1? I'm using all the defaults for Low, medium and high res PDF's and they are coming out screwed up. Also it's taking forever to make them. When I go back to the original file that was created in 6.5 and make the changes (in 6.5 ) and then make a PDF, file looks great and just buzzes along while it's being made. Any suggestions?

Is there any Quark transparency in the file like drop shadows?

No drop shadows. The ILLI art shifts colors and looks like crap.

Looking for prepress person with good typesetting skills. Looking for a person capable of multitasking between prepress , typesetting and running digital press. Rampage knowledge helpful but not necessary. Slackers need not apply. Decent days pay for a decent days work. Full time 36 hours per week. Day shift. Any questions feel free to ask.

DCS I'm gonna have to take your side on this one. I have a new Imac running 10.5.8 then I have my old G4 duel bootable.  I will keep that machine until it dies. It has saved my ass so many times! I don't understand how people in commercial shops don't have one. Page maker and Page Pro,  are used on system 9 often enough to keep it around.

Digital Printing / Re: Konica Minolta BizhubPro C6501

Skryber I feel for you with this piece of shit machine.  We have the Koni Buzhub Pro C6500 and like you it was constantly screwed up. We used to have service here almost every day.  I was at wits end. Finally we had a different repair guy come in and our problems got less and less. Now we only have him in for our routine cleanings.  New repair guy = problems solved

Bindery / Re: Tabletop Scoring device

We bought one when we got our digital press. Easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space. On the piece it says Morgana Docu Crease and then there is a sticker E. Thomas Brett Business Machines, Horsham, PA 215-674-4114. Hope this helps.

Quark is not on the server each Mac has their own copy. When I use the Imac running Quark 8 it lets me preview in hi res. I checked on permissions on the 6.52 version and everything is read and write.
