Screenshots are hopefully self explanatory

Quote from: Lyzan on September 18, 2017, 06:09:43 AMThere's a button somewhere that you can check which is written like [Hold before output]. When you restore an archive file, before releasing the workflow items for re-processing, make sure that this check box is checked.

'Hold before output'  found under the device settings.    Yes, this is checked.  We even replaced the entire tab on retrieved jobs and they still randomly autoplate.

Diddler taught me how to use it and I have been brave enough to use it lately.
I get it now!!!
Well done Tracy. Keen to learn about "Sets" next.
Sets are good, though when we upgraded to newer XMF, new server, new iMacs running Clients, whenever we used Workflow Sets, the plates would get fed straight to the 'setter to image. :o  Haven't really properly re-tested it yet.

We have been having the same issue with plates 'releasing themselves' - it coincided with a factory move and new plate platesetter. It happens to a lot of our jobs that are retrieved fro archive!   Guessing it must be a bug, we can't see any difference in the settings that are causing it.

Not entirely true Paul, you can add other plate icons to your workflow and assign different sheets sizes to different plates. But you are correct in what you say if you use only 1 plate icon in the workflow.

Ah yes... i forgot that one!.... we like to use multiple tabs and label them according - example  'Cover - SRA1'  and 'Text - 630x880'..... we find it useful for other operators taking over jobs from various shifts

Adobe InDesign / PDF back to Indesign
June 29, 2015, 07:52:30 AM
Hi all,

Anyone experience with the Recosoft or Markzwares PDF to Indesign plugin?

I have tried the Recosoft demo, which seems to work pretty well - unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a Markzware demo to compare with it.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah, worth testing.  It caused us a lot of heart break at first when we restored a job that maybe had 80 hours layout!!!  But at least it actually archives all the files, it was just the restore script needed some work, and we realized the archives were in tact we were able to unzip the archives manually anyway.

Fujifilm XMF / Re: Rendering Failure on Blank Pages
March 24, 2015, 09:31:05 AM
We just got the 6.1.2 upgrade today, and a quick look at the fix list I noticed this "From users: When exporting jobs with blank pages, the Plate output fails"
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here - but it still fails as before!

As some say, why would you want to render a blank plate? I guess you don't, but you don't want the job entering a state of FAILED either.

I know from experience that some of our jobs require some weird setups and job construction, and it can certainly be easier at times to leave a surface blank and not bastardizing the impo to flat work.  (which is what we currently do)

My two cents.

Out of curiosity, do ALL your source files restore?  Ours didn't, and we had to have some Fuji tweaks - how this 'bug' was supposedly never noticed is beyond me

We use the archive and restore to do exactly this. Works well, and it makes no odds what the name of the native folder is. Easiest way to navigate to the native folder is to right click on the job in the XMF window, and select 'Open Work Folder'.

We did have a problem with some jobs not archiving/restoring fully.  Turned out the archive was intact, but the restore script needed 'tweaked' - again no biggy, Fuji sorted this for us, but we were able to go into the archive files and manually restore in the short term (they are just zip files!)
