RAMpage / Re: Font Sub Using PDF trap engine
February 24, 2010, 03:18:48 PM
I think this may be the problem. but still don't understand why it occurred in on profile and not the other.

Possibly embedded subset? Styles applied without the printer font to back it up? Can you post the file or the pdf or both?

RAMpage / Font Sub Using PDF trap engine
February 24, 2010, 02:07:48 PM
Ok here is the deal. Created PDF files out of Indy CS4, all fonts were properly imbedded.

Ripped PDF using the trap engine, every thing was normal no errors. Problem is one font that was used (Omnes-RegularItalic) The first letter was Italic and the rest of the word was regular.
Should have been all Italics.

Ripped PDF again using our normal Rip 2 Disk  profile and the font was OK.

Anybody got any ideas??

CMS - Proofing - Printers / What do you charge for Proofs?
September 12, 2007, 09:31:35 AM
Ok... so the boss ask me "What is everyone charging for Proofs" and I relpy " What kind of proofs are you reffering to?" he replies " LoRes PDF Proofs and Epson Proofs" I then reply
" I don't know, but I'll find out" so I thought I'd try here first and if no luck I'll spend some undercover investigative phone time.

Thanks in advance.

General Prepress / Re: training new people

Quote from: LoganBlade on September 10, 2007, 10:56:09 AMTraining is tough if they don't understand printing. I have a 20 plus year guy working in the shop 6 years now and if I could fire him I would. He causes more head aches. Traning in my opinion should be for your work flow not the job. When you hire a prepress guy they should know what needs to be done but may need to train on your process to do it. If they don't get basics in the first month they are not going to get it.IMO.

Man! sounds like your talkin bout the guy I'm training, he has been in prepress 25 years
and still don't even know to spread or choke!!!!

I want to fire him but he whent to HS with the co-owner...Arrrggggg!!!
Oh yeah.....I'm goin into my 5th year training with him.
