I am using Preps 5.3.3 with Rampage 10.6b10. When I rip my JDF template from Preps I am getting "Marks file not found" error. I have check all my settings and cannot figure out what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Joe

Haven't used Rampage but back in my Nexus days the marks file generated with the JDF had to be in a specific location specified in the RIP setup. Could be something like that with Rampage.

Rampage and Preps require that the marks be in .pdf format located in a specific directory (something like Preps 5.3.3/Marks/JDF)

I experimented with this one time, and I could never produce the desired results, so I gave up.

The marks pdf is usually stored in a subfolder named "JDFMarksFlats" from the actual JDF file. There is probably somewhere in Rampage where you have to tell it where exactly that is.

Joe

By Default the "JDFMarksFlats" folder is located in the RSI VOL/Rampage/JDF/Templates folder.
I am leaning toward and issue with Preps 5.3.3 and Rampage 10.6b10 but I cannot confirm that. I have Googled it many different times with no results. IT IS DRIVING ME FREAKING CRAZY!!!!!!!

Joe

So the JDF file is in "RSI VOL/Rampage/JDF/Templates" and the marks pdf is in "RSI VOL/Rampage/JDF/Templates/JDFMarksFlats". That seems like it should work unless there is an obscure setting in Rampage that is pointing elsewhere to the marks. There was in Nexus, for example, I put the JDF in "//NexusData/Jobs/JDF". In the Nexus configuration there was a setting that I had to specify that JDF files would be stored in "//NexusData/Jobs/JDF" and then Nexus knew to find the marks file it had to look in "//NexusData/Jobs/JDF/JDFMarksFlats".

Also, open the JDF in a text editor and search for   <FileSpec MimeType="application/pdf" URL=   and check the path of the file. You can't move them after you make the JDF because it is looking for this path.

For proper jdf integration you need to have Preps Pro; Preps Plus won't cut it. Found this... http://download2.kodak.com/13/6309/1/Preps%205.3.x%20Series%20Release%20Notes%20-%20EN.pdf

Probably won't help you, but there's also a previous post on this here: https://www.b4print.com/index.php?topic=3882.0

Call Peter @Rampage, he's the man and will be glad to help.

I can't find my old notes but if I remember correctly v10.6 and Preps 5.3.3 do not work with JDF.

peeps

I was afraid that it was a compatibility issue with Preps 5.3.3 and Rampage 10.6. Unfortunately I work for a small company and we do not have Rampage support so if anyone knows of a work around please let me know
