got the disk maker in the apps folder have the flash drive ready
not sure how to download the Mojave, when I go to the app store it wants to install it from there I think

Tracy

hmm somehow there is an app in my apps folder called install Mac Mojave
maybe it came from the Disk maker X? don't recall downloading any os
I will check back

making the disk now! This is stressful!
made the disk 6 gigs just like its suppose to be, I may do the install tomorrow!
Where is Mr Miyagi?

Joe

Yeah from the app store it will download it and start the installer. At that point you just quit out of the installer and it will leave the  "install Mac Mojave" file. Then you run DiskMaker X and point it at the installer file. WARNING: It takes a long time and you will think it has died. Let it go until it completes. If for some reason it never completes you can actually do this yourself from Terminal without DiskMakerX. I would have to google the instructions if you need it.

Holy Cow! I did it!
I totally expected to have a problem and lug this thing to the apple store!
One thing tho, my wireless mouse locked up in the middle of the process and had to plug in a mouse
a bit of a freakout, but I survived

Tracy

Thanks for all your help Joe!
The hardest part is getting all the printers and CWS installed
with the new OS you need new drivers etc...
went ok tho!

Tracy

I'm going to slowly prepare for an OS install
Is Monterey ok? or is it Big Sur to install to avoid prepress problems?

I'm going to wipe the computer clean and do a fresh install
I want all my ducks in a row before I start

Joe

XMF will not work on Monterey. Their latest version is compatible with Big Sur...assuming you have the latest version. I would steer clear of Monterey for a good bit.

ok good to know, I have another Mac right next to my main Mac just for XMF
I haven't updated that Mac since El Capitan
I don't update it, just for XMF it's a 27" iMac, what a waste!
I don't have a license for XMF, I did however meet someone recently who may have an updated box for me
we'll see.
