General Prepress / ExtremeZ-IP Network Slowdown
July 22, 2011, 05:40:14 AM
We have installed ExtremeZ-IP to help with file name length on our Windows2003 server. Having a significant slowdown when trying to browse to find files. Anybody know if this is a common thing with ExtremeZ-IP or should I look someplace else for the culprit?

Thanks

All right - I think we veered way off topic on this. I have been out - but the issue is - that the modification dates are not recognized/picked up with Disk Tracker - or the other programs I have tried. It makes it difficult to determine what is active - and what is not.

Couldn't you add some text colored white within the boundaries of the blank page?

General Prepress / Disk Catalog Software

Curious what software folks are using for tracking archived disks. We have used disk tracker for years - but it does not update modification dates when scanning disks. I was hoping to find something better.

Thanks

The only prescreened files we receive are either film scans from items we have ran in the past - or new jobs set up to our specs. I can only imagine the crap you would get - getting others prescreened files. Nothing I know of can fix it.

As general practice we zip all files that we send or upload to protect file integrity. Not sure if it really helps - but we do it anyway.

Thank you for the link. Looks like a good resource for customer education.

I have used third party replacements with good success on my old I-Book. Just make sure you keep you receipt if there is a problem.

Had the exact same thing happen the other day with a linked images in CS4. I embedded the images and that solved the problem. Weird.

Don't tell corporate. Might be able to save a buck. Who cares if it is right. Look at the overhead they could save.
