Hi
I'm tired of having my font menu be so long. Loaded with many Asian and foreign fonts.
I work on a Mac Leopard System 10.5.5
What fonts does Leopard really need to run?
I'd like to take the extra out of my system font folder.
Also what about the fonts that are in the top-level Library Font Folder?
I don't want them to all be always available, or do certain applications like Indesign etc. need certain fonts to be available always.

Thanks

Stiv

my library->fonts folder is empty, except for what ever job fonts i am using at the time.  i drag and drop into an alias on my desktop on an as-needed basis.  my system fonts folder has the foloowing permanently loaded:

courier (postscript, not dfont)
geneva
helvetica (postscript, not dfont)
keyboard
last resort
lucida grande
monaco

and, for some reason that is now escaping me, i had to keep Geeza Pro in there too.  i cant remember the issue that caused this, but now i keep it in there anyway.

thats it, and all of our macs run like a dream when it comes to fonts.

I do not mess with mine.

I could take issue with some of the fonts Apple has listed.
I'd recommend David Creamer's document for further reading (although I don't believe it has been updated for Leopard.)
