GMG just posted FREE RapidCheck GO solution. I am impressed, it is FREE and it actually works great. How often do we get a free software? Take a look at the interface. I wish all the software was as well designed.

Now you can see within seconds to whether your press is within limits of the defined standard. It works with most spectros from Xrite and Techkon.

RapidCheck GO!: GMGColor

They also have posted 21 demo of GMG RapidCheck. Give it a spin I bet you guys will love it.

PrintControl: GMGColor

Disclaimer: I am not a gmg dealer just a very happy user.

Are you measuring some test color patches? What's your Delta E? (min., average, max.)

How neutral are the black grays?

As for G, I don't know when an alias in this place is refered to a man or woman.
Of course. I usually check calibration every Monday. I have 4 proofers epson 9880, 7880, 4880 and hp 1050c (for screened newsprint proofing). I am using Isis for profiling and calibrations. My average to match Gracol2006 on epsons is 0.31, 4.01 is max and I have 16 color patches out of 1548 worst than 2 dE. Grays are perfectly neutral.

I am using GMG and I like it a lot. Very user friendly interface in new version. All kind of controls you can dream of. I can't say one bad thing about GMG. You can't get a bad proof using GMG because someone messed up settings and picked wrong calibration file or something. I heard that they are working on controlling GMG system from the iPhone...

Oris got much better with new version but I prefer GMG. EFI is out of the question because it is still missing  selective color correction tool, which GMG and Oris have. This tool will visually fine tune every color you  still may want adjust after automatic color matching (iterations).

Get a demo and try it out. You will not be disappointed.

General Prepress / do you have more than one location?
September 07, 2008, 06:51:44 PM
What kind of a setup do you have? Can you see file server on the other location? Can you work on remote file server? What kind of a internet speed do you have for this?

Quote from: almaink on July 30, 2008, 01:10:10 PMUnless you already have a dual core 3 gig PC to run it, IMO it's not worth the upgrade cost.

Check the upgrade list and think if there are features you really need. There is no reason to upgrade just because there is a new version...

Is there a reason you don't have a contract with them? You can't get any software updates/upgrades unless you have a contract. They always seem to be fixing bugs and adding things, so it may be a good idea to get a support contract.

Do you have a support contract with CGS? Why don't you call them? If you don't - call your CGS dealer you purchased rip from. Troubleshooting Oris is not as easy as gmg or EFI.
