Thanks Dan, that's kind of what I needed to know. I'm not going to go diving into Javascript education, and I don't think we have anybody on staff who's knowledgeable enough to do it either. I agree that SmartStream has "grown up" in recent versions (Amir pointed me towards the Quark 8 Version recently) but if we leave the Indigo behind for a NexPress or another piece of hardware I'll have to have a replacement. I may have another look at Kodak's Darwin options, although it's burned me pretty badly in the StoreFront version.

That, and the Mgmt has started selling themselves as "Marketing and Multi-Channel Solutions Innovators with Turnkey Opportunity Providers" or some such nonsense. My take is, if they want to play with the big boys then they need to buy the big toys or I can't possibly deliver on the promises they'll be making.
A little diddie 'bout black 'n cyan...two reflective colors doin' the best they can.

In that case, I'd probably stick with FusionPro (update your version, of course!) For the price, you can't beat it and it will do just about anything you can imagine as long as you can get the code right. And the JavaScript stuff you can learn just enough to be dangerous. If you can't figure out how to do something, they have a very active forum with a couple of JS wizards who will happily post some code to get you going.

Amir is very receptive to feature requests, so if you see something that could be improved make sure you let him know (although I doubt they'll be adding much new to the Quark version). I've mentioned a few things to him and he assured me they will add/fix in future releases.

Wow ... thought I was the only one ...  :banghead:

Good luck with making your 'take' a reality. Hasn't worked so well for me.

FP is pissing me off. I've already spent half the day getting this job set up. Now FP is balking when I try to edit a text field. The editor pops up but it's all grayed out inside, no text. This isn't happening with any of the other variable frames in the document. It's already crashed Acro at least 5 times, I had to restart and then the text field showed up.

I honestly don't have time to start poking thru the Printable forums for help right now.

Color me pissed.

Yup. Nice.

Really, the Mac version of FP is buggy. Digisig mentioned he's had similar issues. I just had to create a text frame from scratch within Acro/FP because it was refusing to work with my imported frame. And just that one, all the others on the page were fine.

Is anyone using it on Windows? Does it actually work?  :whip:

It's either one of the "older" members getting a closer look or just The Goog checking up on us.

I clicked on it to make the post count higher. I thought it would be funny.  :sarcasm:

(This is why political attack ads don't have to be true to be effective. The other side can point out their inaccuracies, but the voter's mind privileges the memory of the original accusation, which was juicier than any counterargument ever could be.)"
