Sure. All this does is ensure that any of the various die line names we use are set to overprint. We don't use XMF to convert our colors to cmyk.

We use a Pitstop action loaded in the job preflight section to set any of our die line colors to overprint.

You can tell XMPie which page of a pdf asset to use. However, it just splits the page for you in the background. Take a look at:

Ok, I have created a couple of different examples of layer visibility rules you can look at. The demo 1 file uses both standard rules and an audience rule.

Demo 2 uses standard rules and shows how to control multiple layers with one rule.

Basically, you just want to return a string and if the layer name matches that string it will be on, otherwise it is off. you can control multiple layer names by concatenating the names with a | (pipe) symbol.

If you have any questions let me know.

No need for 5 different rules for this. You can use a switch rule, visibility rule with layer names, or an audience rule. I am swamped at the moment, but will try and get you some examples later today if I get caught up.

Adobe Acrobat / Re: Recombining separated PDF's
August 10, 2023, 03:13:00 PM
Oddly enough XMF has a way to recombine and spit out a pdf with the vectors and fonts intact.
I can't say I have ever used it, but I just gave it a try and it seems to work pretty good, at least I got a pdf with everything showing up.

You have to create a master template, as that is the only place you can turn the function on, and you also have to respect the documents overprints. Let me know if you want more info.

You can use the add pages step to ensure even pages.

Tracy,
I would not say that it is HARD, but it is involved and a bit intimidating. Not a project for the faint of heart. Lots of panels need removed, and once you get to the actual printhead, some of the screws are a bit difficult to reach.
The video does a good job of going through each step, and is certainly a must if you want to try this yourself.

What a coincidence, we just replaced the print head in our 9900 just this last Friday.
If you want to learn to do it yourself there is a great video at myx900. Although it is $45 bucks to see the entire video, it does take you through the entire proceedure. You can get the printhead from Epson Prinhead.

My guess is it is a limitation of his store software.
I created an expiring email on my domain to download it. If I understand the license correctly I am free to distribute it to any non Adobe employee, so feel free do click below.

Honestly, I am not even sure it will do me any good, I already have the old books saved, as well as an excel file of the LAB color builds for the Indesign color books.

This last weekend I ran across the Freetone site.
Some might find it interesting.

This script is not something I wrote. I found it years, and years ago on a german scripting site and used google to translate the dialogs.
Pretty easy to use once you place the script in your scripting panel
Select the guides you want to copy and run it
A dialog will ask you what page you want to copy them to
Choose mirrored or normal
If you have additional layers, you can choose which layer the guides are copied to

Hope it helps
