I need to print the job name within the trims of the press sheet. The pressroom needs the job name printed on the sheet.

I see I can just place the $JOB_TITLE text in the space but I can't adjust the font size. I could also use $COMMENT and then type in what I want in the Print dialog box, but again I cannot adjust the font size.

Is there a way to place text so the template pics up the job name automatically and the font size can be changed?

I used to do this ages ago but what are you using nowadays to make custom fonts of logos?

I need to make a client vector logo into a TT font.

OK, everyone knows turn it off but I have a job in where the client has it turned on. They had their monitors calibrated by a "professional" and are using custom built settings in Color Setup Source and Output. Their setting are not overridden by my global QXP settings, they are document preferences.
I am using FontWizard to eps the job and QXP7 has changed the colors of placed PDFs. Solid 100K is being separated as 4/C for example.
So, if I just reset the source and output to my settings will the job RIP with the values in the placed PDFs? 
Does the setting affect the placed images when they are placed or only when output?
I'm going to have to attempt this later today, but wondered if this has been encountered before.

Is anyone using them?
What software did you use to set up the profiles.
What is your workflow?

I am looking into device link profiles now and could use some advice.

Mac OSX 10.5.6 & InDesign CS4

We have switched to CS4 and removed CS3 from the computers. (Hey don't blame me)

When opening CS3 docs into CS4 the clipping paths are not turned on. What I am having to do is Object/ClippingPath/Options and selecting Invert (with Preview On) and de-selecting Invert then cancel.

This is the only thing that is working. Relinking, or re-saving the image and relinking do not work.

How long do you intend to keep CS3 on your systems before you switch completely to CS4?

How do you intend to work around multiple Acrobat versions and PitStop upgrades?

It isn't easy trying to implement these version upgrades when they affect so many other Apps.

I'm putting this here & not in Enfocus because I'm not sure which is the offender. I don't have Admin access to turn off Pitstop to test.

I have a PDF 1.5 doc and when I extract a page the version changes to 1.6 even before a save. When I delete all other pages and save, the version changes from 1.5 to 1.6.

I have my Pitstop pref set to not change version on saving.

Has anyone had any occasion to use the Flatten Detection on the Trap Tab?

What has been your experience with the PDF Trap Engine?

Can you offer any suggestions as to PDF creation based on this profile?

Epson 9800, MeasureTool 5.0.8, SpectroScan.

I am printing a TC3.5 CMYK target to the Epson 9800 on a daily basis. I have a baseline target that I compare daily readings to. I am reading the target on a Spectroscan with Profilemaker.

Now when I compare my baseline target to the daily target, I am currently comparing the DeltaE CMC(2:1) option because this is the way it has been done in the past. I would like to know if this option is recommended but I am having a hard time finding info on this.

Is anyone measuring the DeltaE against a baseline? How are you evaluating the comparisons?

If you can head me in the right direction to find out a clear answer I would appreciate it.

INDD CS3, Mac OSX, have a doc from a client that has BW photos placed. Simple, yes?

This is the situation. No matter how I export this, EPS (OPI or w/images), PDF (any flavor, X1 - 1.3 to 1.7), the BW photos are RGB.  Not only RGB but when I examine the image with Pitstop it has been cut up and is not the resolution of the actual image. Oh yeah, not all of the images are being changed to RGB. The images with transparency are Black only!

Now I have checked my links and all of the settings I know, started over on a different machine even.

Any suggestions for getting the images to output as BW and in actual resolution?

I am a long time Preps user and have started re-evaluating imposition software. I have some specific questions that I am hoping can be answered by users and not sales "people".

1. I have a 72 page mag that needs to be shingled. I need to turn off shingling on 18 pages that have crossovers or gutter jump images. In Preps I would place independent pages in my templates with a zero shingling which would override the master shingling setting. I have quite a few special templates that have been created over the years for this. Is it easier to override individual page shingling in DynaStrip?

2. I am using Rampage. Do you also need to do the special rotate to get the pages to orient correctly?

3. How does DynaStrip use templates? Is there a main template folder? How do multiple workstations access the templates?

After I click on Signature, Preps always opens with Perfect Bound. Is there a way to have it open on Saddle Stitch? Hey, I know it is just one click but it bugs me to no end.

I have version 5.1.5 on OSX 10.14.11.

I want to upgrade to the latest version and learn to use Smart Marks. OK, I'm slow to upgrade my Preps I know but it works.

I have gone through the Smart Marks tutorial. I still cannot get a good template to come out. What was your learning curve like? Did it click with you the first time or did it take alot of testing?

I have a feeling this is going to be trouble - I gave up drinking for Lent.

I have Rampage 10.5 and currently use ROOM with the EPS/nPDF profile.

Have you used ROOM and now using NORM?

Have you tested NORM and stayed with ROOM?

I am on Rampage 10.5. We are revamping our EPS and PDF procedures and would be interested in knowing what you are doing.

What level of PDF are you using? 1.3, 1.4, etc.

Do you have settings that clients download?

I have some large jobs that I might export EPS w/OPI, w/images, and use PDFs in order to get some pages to RIP correctly. How could I get a client to submit a PDF and expect all the pages to RIP correctly? Not gonna happen. I prefer to get a PDF and the native files. But we want to have PDF options to download. I googled and reviewed a few Distiller settings that are on the web and have noticed that the specs are different. Some use 1.3 to flatten transparency and some are using 1.4.

Anyways, what are your thoughts?
