That is cool. I remember missing double burns quite a bit in the early days of CTP.

Try to flatten maybe?

Here's a pic of the smart mark on a press sheet.
You can see it on the plates too, easier than trying to see the slugs at the bottom (processless plates aren't as easy to see things as regular plates)

When we do it more like your way is when we PU F1-4 from that job to be F8-12 of this job, etc... then we import .job from preps folder in the system folder and keep page set blah blah

Quote from: RMPrepress on February 04, 2025, 10:38:11 AMYeah its all about getting the new job # on the files for plating and for the slugs on the plates and the preps slug lines etc.
I know another way is to use a Job name instead of impo name in the preps slug and then editing the process template to use that job name also but that is also a pain and is not always an option if there are multiple impo's in a single job

BTW... love your B52's Planet Claire reference in your profile.
The way we do it is our "form ID" smart mark is populated by the first 5 characters of the job name (as you thought) which is the job #. We name the impo F1 or F2_6 or whatever and that doesn't change. So that's the next part of the smart mark.
So the press sheet ends up saying "##### F2_5 F3 front"
which is the CURRENT job number, the impo name then which part (which is automatically done).
So it tells you job ##### form4A. (the 3rd form of 2-5)

We use Archive to disk, and it backs-up everything.
So we copy to new name (new job #), retrieve, then it's all there - ready to plate or print digi as-is for exact RR.
Or, it's all there, ready for whatever changes to art or imposition or both.
I'm not really understanding why it's necessary for you to do what seems to me to be extra steps?
is it just to get things like the impo renamed?
If so, there's other ways to get around that...

Isn't that a Chuck Berry song?

Be careful about scaling legal documents. I am no expert and I don't know the rules, but I do know that I had a notary that had to come have us sign a big pile of documents a second time because the first time some legal size docs were output scale to fit on letter and apparently that was a big no-no.
