Hey guys,

we're running into a strange issue where our RGB conversion is generating ink densities way higher than 320%. I thought we could maybe fix it if we were able to somehow add the Ink TAC reduction for GRACoL 320% from Pitstop to our existing preflight profile. I didn't work here yet when the XMF rip was installed and have no real idea what happens in our preflight profile.

Thanks!

I think the pitstop TAC action has to be Device CMYK to work

but I'm wondering if Fuji can fix that for you.
I usually fix my Ink before XMF

Diddler

Don't have XMF in front of me but I know you just import the .eal.
Create your preferred preflight and export it to your desktop.
For the import, into XMF it would be done in the administration pane of Preflight if my memory is correct.
You can't polish a Turd, but you can roll it in glitter!

AaronH

Thank you Diddler!

Tracy, that may just be what we need to get in the habit of. We've tried to get it on the rip to catch things we miss on occasion, but we were noticing it was taking RGB files and somehow getting them to over 340-360% ink densities.

The pitstop TAC action works great on Device CMYK images
hardly see a color change, we are not high quality tho, but I pretend to be
also it's best to have your images Zip compressed before adjusting as the quality will lower.
I created an action to compress then lower TAC and then I just convert using User Selection
so I Don't adjust things I don't want.
Oh and also the actions I created are for images only, as you will definitely see a color shift on vector.

worst case I create a Device CMYK pdf if needed, I have not seen good results converting to Device
CMYK in pitstop but I may be doing it wrong.

Aaron, what application is creating densities above 320%?
What's your target profile for the RGB-CMYK Conversion?

Best to fix this at the source.

AaronH

XMF is for some reason.

Can't figure out why. It's set to convert RGB to CMYK via SRGB to GRACoL 2006.

I try to get all RGB files to CMYK in Pitstop first, but I'm not the only one working here.  :strangle:

Do you have a current license?
and have you ever Team Viewered with them?
They can fix your problem lickety split!

AaronH

Yeah we've got a current license. It's just been so busy here in the last week or so we haven't had time to call Fly-FUJI.

First point of call, they should be able to explain.
