Acrobat 2017 link
« on: April 29, 2020, 02:02:18 PM »
For those who still would like to purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro that is not tied into the "Cloud", I have been given the link to the page where you can do that. I was looking for this myself for some time, and finally just got on a chat with the Adobe folks, and they gave me the linke.

And here it is https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog.html?filters=de_252Fpdf#!&sa_src=web-messaging. This will allow you to purchase it for either Windows or Mac. And at this time it is $449/US.

We are in the process of testing the Affinity products for our newspaper and prepress departments and cut our subscription down to 1 or 2 copies of Adobe CC. The newspaper people can get by with just Acrobat Reader but in Prepress we have to Acrobat with Pitstop. So we are considering this  for Prepress since we can buy it once and not have to pay monthly but the thing that worries me is the name "Acrobat 2017". Since the name hasn't been updated in 3 years I'm worried they are going to discontinue it at some point. Like 5 minutes after I click submit on the purchase. :(

I don't see any problem with that - discontinuing -.

Our prepress department is stuck on cs6 with out any major issues.

Since service bureau's died and we moved inside printshops, there's little time -if any- for prepress tech's to take full advantage of new tools/features - if any -.

Have to have Pitstop. Life or death on that front. If Adobe discontinues it that would mean at some point Enfocus would have to stop supporting it. Just like the the latest release for those still in Acrobat XI land they will not be able to use Pitstop 2020. One the first domino falls the rest have to follow.

i get that, still you might get a couple of 2017 licenses and do most of your work with them with the latest pitstop they can get and keep a single updated acrobat/pitstop.

That would save you some and get you through for 2-3 years i believe.

-i'm thinking cheap, cause i'm paid cheaper-

We're in the process of testing out the Affinity Suite of Adobe killers at the moment. If we decide to switch to it we would still have to keep 1 or 2 licenses of Creative Cloud which means we would have 1 or 2 license for DC. But I don't trust Adobe to keep a version of Acrobat subscription free.
