I had this post in another thread, but figured it was more appropriate here:

speaking of firefox, do you know if you have it remember your passwords, and you dont have a master password set on firefox, ANYONE can view your logins/passes by just opening your browser? my wife showed this to me last week and i almost crapped my pants..

go to tools>options>security and click on  "show passwords" it will list them all.  If you set a master password, then it will make you verify before it shows you, but then anytime you visit a page with a login it will prompt you for your master pass again..  By default, theres no master password set.. Ive been using FF ever since and this was all news to me, and i consider myself "up on things"

Holy Cow!

Don't mind on my home machine where I am now and thankfully at work I have the security settings set  to remove all private data when I quit firefox. I'll double check on Monday and that's for sure!

That's not surprising to me....If you tell a program to remember your passwords...and you don't have a master password set to access them...how can you expect to be secure? The computer doesn't know who is at the keyboard...be it you or your wife...unless you have different user accounts set up. Man, did she find all your porn passwords?....bummer  ;D --- Clear Private data does nothing to passwords if you save them without a master password for access...

I also have my setting to clear all private data at quit, both at work and at home. I don't use a master password for FF, just have memorized all passwords I use for various sites.

yep, me too..   just delete them with FF shut down..    I'd hate for my wife to get in and sabotage my online characters..   :ninja:

Checked at work today and I'm safe. I'm really safe at home, I live by myself and no one seems to want to change that! :(
