In preferences, under Appearance of Black, what is the default setting for Overprint of Black.

Is that box clicked to allow overprinting of black??
or
Is that box NOT CLICKED by default??

I can't remember if IDCS3 comes out-of-the-box with that box clicked or not.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude.

After trashing my prefs, all blacks display as Rich and overprint is set for 100%

That's what I thought. I had a job today with about 900 black boxes that did not need to overprint. They were way to large. Anyway I ran them through Apogee X (which is set to have all Black boxes knockout) and the overprints stayed. I was hoping Apogee would change the overprints to knockouts but apparently there is something different about the way the overprint is set in the preferences versus the way it is set in the attributes. Apogee will change the overprint to a knockout if it is set in the attributes.

At least it is a file preference and I can just change it when am initially looking at a job. I am going to need to investigate if this is something that Apogee should take care of.

Thanks for the verification.
