Whats everyone using to do their Variable? For letters and minor or small jobs I just use InDesign...when it comes to a lot of postcards, I use Fusion pro, that way I can automatically break it into reasonable stacks to help with the cutting so it stays in order.
I ask, because I just looked at Fusion Pro and it is now $1,500.00 annually.

My computer is from 2015 and is currently only running OS10.14.6. I am being forced to upgrade due to Adobe feeling the need to constantly update their programs.
Always hate to open a new can of worms...then my XMF won't work...we have enough to deal with working with people with no clue. So is there a better program out there?

Has anyone ever set up photographs printing using CMYK and Metallic? We are trying to create an effect, but not sure how to get there. Any suggestions?

Filling in for someone this week, and trying to print a #10 envelope. The color and everything looks good, but about 50% of them are coming out crooked. Any suggestions on what I can to to make it hold position a little better?

Is there a simple way to remap color bars to be PMS? For example my colorbar  is CMYK + PMS 1 + PMS 2.
I have a job that has 4 PMS colors. The pressman would like me to remap the 7546 to be Cyan, the 200 to be Magenta, the 130 to be Yellow and the 7546 and the 185 to be Black.
Is there a way for these color to easily remap into the correct position on the color bar. I have another color bar that is all PMS, but the pressman doesn't like it, because it does not have as many fields to read.

We generally use a 6 color color bar for our jobs....however, we have a pressman, that is not happy with them. Is there a way to remap the colors in XMF to say you want Pantone 186 to use the magenta position? Without remapping the entire color to be magenta. There has to be a way, just figured I would check here first.

Is there such a thing as a supported printer. Currently using the Epson 7880, but XMF does not support it. you can print to it, but to make a 2 sided proof required much thought (had to punch paper and use a pin bar).
The printer has clogged printheads, that will not clean...We have been down this road before, and I know that it is cheaper to buy a new one, then to get it fixed. I am looking for suggestions before I hit up the boss.

I have done this before, but I cannot remember what I had to do to get it to work.
I had to adjust a Global sheet mark for a PITA pressman, and now I cannot get it to show up to where I can select it to use. I feel like I need to register it or something, but not sure. I duplicated a mark that I currently use, and now I cannot select it

Help! I have to merge a job that has 27,400 records (this job is also 2 sided) so that makes it a 54,800 page document.
I have to run this 12 up cut and stack. my XMF system will not allow me. So I have a 12 up document, is there a way that I can tell 1 record to be 1-2000, the the 2nd one to be 2001-4000 and so on. for all 12 up in my layout.
I can't figure it out!

I know enough about FusionPro to get by and things have been running pretty well up to this point. Yesterday, while doing my usual thing, when I hit compose, acrobat gives me the spinning wheel of death!
I am not finding much in the way of tech support. 
Using Version FusionPro 9.3.6 and Acrobat Pro

We are currently running 2 sided proofs on our Epson 7880 using a punch system, then tumbling the paper to run the second side. It was running pretty well for a while, but now it is 1/16" off on the backups. For the life of me, I cannot figure it out. The paper is already cut to a size...and we all know that paper cutters aren't perfect...depends on the stack, lol. Anyway...I keep looking in the system to see if there is a quick adjustment that I can make to compensate the difference, so that I do not have to run 1 sided proofs and d tape them together. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know anything about EFI Printsmith (tracking system / Estimating)?
I need to either restore from a backup, or import new data from another company...
I cannot figure out how to do it.
Sometimes it really sucks being in prepress, most people think that we just know how to do anything.

I figured out how to do page transition in both InDesign and Acrobat. Is it possible to do the transition and have it show an open booklet kind of icon at the top, that when you click on it, t will change pages. I cannot figure out how to do it. I've seen it before on sale ads and other books, but unable to figure it out.

Is there a way to print multiple up of the same page in Acrobat? I have an 86 page perfect bound book that we are printing digitally, and would like to run each page 4 up in line with imposing it. I see under scaling that you can print multiple up, however that scales it and also places 4 different pages. Any suggestions?

Anyone know how to convert a .cwk file into excel file?
I've tried many things, but I cannot get it to work.

I am working on a book for a private school. They want all the information about each child, such as name, address, phone, parents names...email address. My problem is that I got an excel file, used the data merge feature in Indesign CS4, however it placed each grouping (Each Person) in a text box by themselves. Is there an easy way to either link all of the text boxes together ( my problem is that some of the files have 6 lines and some have 8 lines ) So I need to get them all together and put a return in between each student.

It's Friday afternoon...and I cannot think any more. I have a 72 page book plus cover. Book size is 5.5 x 8.5. running as a 4 pager for the cover, then an 8 page work & turn, then 4 - 16 page sheetwise forms.

Running on 80# Titan Gloss text.

Here is what I am coming up with.
72/4=18x.0034=.0612

Where do I put this in...inner / outer? Do I select all the sigs and put in the same number?
I do not want to just guess, I keep reading different things, and now I'm more confused. And I do not want to be the one responsible for 40 bad plates, especially with a tight turn around.

Using 4.2 with very limited training. Things were good until I was forced to upgrade my system software to 10.5.6, which has also forced me to upgrade Preps to 5.3.My Happy little world has turned upside down 3 days ago. It's funny, people say "all you have to do is...", Software installations are horrible, there is always something wrong.I am unable to produce any prep files from my computer. Old version, I would make Quark, InDesign eps, etc..., run them through Rampage 9.4, load them in preps, apply a strip template, print them as a file (which would have the .eps extension), run that file through rampage, them make either a proof or plates. Life was good.  I have looked at my config file and things look right. I am printing as a ps file now, because my choice of "file" has disappeared. It keeps putting a ps extension or making a pdf. (that makes sense since I am telling it to make a ps file, however I want it to be an eps) Any suggestions, like I said before, I was thrown into this software without real training. All I know is the very basic.  Good news...when I figure out my mess, I get to do it on 3 more computers...
