Is there a way to make a pdf with all the images Device CMYK from indy

or, what is a good way to make all your images in a pdf Device CMYK without changing color too much?

Joe

Tracy,

Try changing these two settings when exporting your PDF. Set the top one to 'Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers) and then change your destination to the profile you prefer to use. No guarantees on the "without changing color too much". You may need to try different profiles and see if any of them will work for you.

yeap... I sometimes have to do this and try all the settings to find the best.... sometimes nothing gets it right

Lately been using the new devicelinks in pitstop on the output pdf instead
(RGB to cmyk one ... DeviceLink Office RGB-CMYK - ISO Coated V2 300% works well)
seems to work a lot better and added bonus keeps the ink density under 300

I am so loving the device links to sort out high ink density supplied files.... damn miracle for me!
this one especially 'Reduce-SWOP2006_Coated3v2-300%TAC'

Tracy

I'm loving the TAC also, that is why I want my pdf to have Device link images.
I will try pitstop, I have not tried the device link RGB to CMYK
I have used the convert to colorspace action, but don't know enough about it to feel secure.
I'm so insecure

Tracy

Hey can you get me a screen shot of the RGb-CMYK thingy?
Done with the job, but I need to try and understand if there is a better way.

converting to device cmyk from global changes = bad, for good quality work.
I couldn't find the one you referenced.
I had to do the photoshop shuffle on this job

If the images are device cmyk pitstop does a wonderful job reducing ink

lets see if this works... image attached of screen grab, circled in green

I find the original device cmyk in pitstop doesnt work that well for me either. This one seems to work much better, especially if I have some crappy supplied files from word or similar. but even its a file that has half cmyk and half rgb, seems to fix the rgbs pretty well without too much colour shift

How are your color management preferences configured?
The RGB>CMYK conversion should be good, but you need to configure it to suit.

Tracy

Thanks for popping in ABC!
Yes my color management is turned off, that must be the problem?
I can't remember why I have it turned off, I know there was a reason, can you remind me?

Because it will turn 100% K to about 86% K or even or even make it 4 color.
