This is a strange one...
This is the 2nd time in a month this has happened. We don't receive too many Quark files anymore, but the resulting PDF won't trap correctly using the Total Rip PDF trapper. The actual trap colors are picking up a random spot color from the document. The color has nothing to do with the trap (they aren't touching each other) but the color shows up in the trap line???

I'm using Quark 7.0 and writing out postscript and distilling the postscript to a PDF. I've tried exporting a PDF directly but nothing seems to make any difference. The strange thing is, the pre-trapped PDF colors are fine, but when submitting to the Total Rip PDF trapper the error occurs.

I'm using Nexus 8.5 Rev 3 on a windows 2003 server.

Hi T.

Only with Quark files? I'd contact support if it is only Quark files that it happens with. As a test can you trying saving the Quark doc as an EPS, place that into InDesign and export a new PDF and see what happens to that?

I'll try that. Our favorite support fellow, Long, has logged the bug in to development. Be warned!

Sorry to hear that. That means you'll never hear from them again. ;D
