Adobe Acrobat / PDF Trim.app
May 28, 2019, 11:29:43 AM
I am setting up a new work station and migrating to Mojave.

My current Mac has everything since CS6 installed on it. Somewhere along the way, we aquires an app called "PDF Trim" - a one trick pony that lets you drag many pdfs with cropmarks and bleed and resaves them cropped to the trim box.

I have 1 client who cannot understand crop marks or bleed or our elaborate Slug which identifes and trackes changes and revisions. (They also rename them as pdf-1 , pdf-2 and sends them back to us)...

Point is, I do not know where this app came from and it does not work if I copy it over to the new Mac.

It calls itself an Acrobat Professional Droplet, but does not specify Adobe per se. Adobe.com comes up empty. Can you save droplets in Acrobat, Like Photoshop Actions?

Just heard of this today, I have used Markzware plugins a long time ago in Quark.
There is apparently a market for Indesign CS6 people who need to open Creative Cloud files...

General Prepress / PDF with ICC profile etc...
May 08, 2018, 10:50:22 AM
Pardon me, if this sounds as odd to you as it does to me.

A new client wants us to supply press ready pdfs for flyers and posters with icc profiles and setting appropriate for each press.
We are not allowed to contact these printers directly as we are to be invisible in this production process. Fine, What ever...

Now they tell me that the specs are (for one of them)
"PDF x1 SWOP for Heatset CMYK web press"

This does not specif (to me) what profile they want.
Frankly, I wonder why the printer isn't insisting on applying the profile themselves since they know their press conditions.
Googling this did not give me clarity so what do you guys think?

General Prepress / Adobe Software Authentification...
December 05, 2017, 11:10:13 AM
Adobe is switching from serial numbers to online software authentication using registered email addresses (Adobe IDs for most) but our global corporation is using our corporate credentials... Gues who got caught in the mess last night with 3 hours left in my shift long after IT went home. Once word spread that prepress and shipping were down, the jobs that were waiting suddenly became must ship tonight... Adobe is the new  Quark/Microsoft/Apple/insert you favourite unreliable .&$%#^#*$*......
