Thanks for the info, Logan! We actually have a DocuColor 8000. When they bought it, I guess they were lead to believe it would do things it doesn't. Like print on offset stock....it will do this, but the quality sucks compared to digital. Also, Xerox complains because we are actually destroying the machine and they are threatening to void our warranty. The amount of dust that goes through is ridiculous. (I even backtrim the stock and vacuum it!) And also, offset stock is designed to absorb ink, this machine uses toner and lays on top of the stock....so we go through fuser webs like air cause it just sucks the oil right out of it. Also, they don't like how the ink has a shine to it. They want to be able to have a matte finish. Well, none of the samples they were given had a matte finish, so I don't know what made them think it could do this. They have been better about buying digital stock, but now they want to do more, like UV coat etc. I guess this machine can do all those things. I wish they would let us get involved before they buy this stuff. It goes like this....

Bossman: Hey Jo, there's a new machine we just got in, go figure it out!
Me: Sir, yes sir!

General Prepress / Xerox iGen 4

I just found out, my company might be purchasing a Xerox iGen4. Does anyone have experience with one of these. Complaints? Every time we buy new equipment, us prepress people don't know about until the sale is complete, and then the upper management gets upset that the half million dollar machine they blindly purchased doesn't do what they thought it would do. So...anyone?

Kodak Preps / Re: Preps 4.2 to Preps 5.3 and Rampage

Yes, I'm thinking this is your problem. I just did a test and changed my Default Workflow to "PDF -> PDF", printed PS and I got the same error when I tried to rip in Rampage. If you just installed it, it may have just defaulted to this option. Did you take screenshots of your preferences before the upgrade?

PS file is the correct setting. Humor me and check your Preps preferences and make sure Default Workflow is set to "Mixed Files -> Postscript."
BTW: you will love the new Preps once you get the hang of it.

Anyways....so far, this is what I got:
1. Trap now has Edit logs. (SWEET ASS) I can't remember what kind of hand trapping I do on my own jobs, let alone someone else's. So now, it tells you what had been done and to what.2. Trap has revision comparisons. So when I hand trap something and decide to change it, it saves the previous ones and lets you compare the differences.3. Instead of having to go into Preps to rotate pages, you can now do it right in Rampage.4. Pathway in v11.2 will now be apart of Client, but not just yet.5. Archiving in Pathway has new options. You can unarchive a job with it's original job # on all the pages and sigs, and replace it with the new job #.6. There are new Prescan options for "error ons."

and i will post more later.

We will be installing Rampage v11.1 today. Anyone have any advice, questions, concerns? We will be holding the Rampage lady captive for 3 days, so let me know if you have any questions for her, or advice for me.   :toaster:
