Actually the OS X software will continue be to free but it will force hardware upgrades on a regular interval. So yeah, it's free but not free.

I took the free upgrade, mostly because the last 3-4 upgrades weren't free.  Then all my (old) Adobe CS programs stopped working.  Hey ho.  At least Quark 8 still works  :death: :death:

How old of Adobe CS apps aren't working? I have 5.5, 6, and CC all running under Mavericks.
