General Prepress / Re: Layout
November 30, 2007, 05:32:20 PM
Damn, I must work in heaven.  After reading all the gripes on this forum for the past 3 months.  As much as I dislike the people I work with,  the boss and the job are alright.

As far as layouts go......I come from a press and stripping background so I know how a job should run.  But the boss and our "csr" layout the jobs they take in. And 95% of the time its ok,  my job is backup......just another set of eyes on every job that goes through prepress

If the cover weight registers just fine then it is not a plate issue

My guess would be a packing problem

Polar no longer stocks that part.

The solenoid is a retro fit for OSHA purposes.  Lifts up a cam so the blade cannot cycle by accident

pun intended :D

Adobe InDesign / Re: HELP! CREEP is bugging me!

The way we measure creep is to put a book together with the actual stock it is running on.  In this case 10 sheets of 100# text the creep is 3/32nds.

my 2 cents

Because they can charge whatever the market will bear.  That is why we switched from Kodak to IBF.  The price difference was incredible.

Screen / Re: Maintenance Contracts
October 11, 2007, 11:37:56 AM
Got a bug on the server, our IT guy on call came in to the rescue.  Did not like the way the C drive was configured.  Began moving files around.  That was Friday, he got the bug out and everything worked when I left.  Well he came back in over the weekend - Monday, the Trueflow system did not work.  We are sitting dead in the water.  Called Screen, had to re-install entire software.  Four hours later, we are up and running.  Boss is not a happy camper.  Note to self - do not let IT person ever touch that machine again.

We could not operate without Trap Editor.  I'm just curious if everything operates fine now, do we still need the maintenace contract?

We pay Trueflow a yearly fee for help with any software problems.  As we have not needed their assistance for the past year, I am trying to justify the expense of the maintenance contract.
