Hi
I am having the hardest time getting a graphic to stay in my signature in hotmail.
I have the graphic on a hosting website (jpg). I copied it then pasted it into the Signature area under More Options in Hotmail.
Then do I have to link it using the URL? I clicked on the little link symbol and copied and pasted the URL in that area then said save.
The jpg appears in the first few emails I make and send but then it is replaced by a box with a question mark in it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I don't have a hotmail account but the box with the question mark means it can't find the jpg. It could be the service is interrupted (web site down etc). What hosting service are you using?
Edit: Also, if you go back and check hotmail is the URL still where you saved the setting? When it appears as a box with a ? try just entering the URL into your browser address bar and see if it shows there. If it shows in the browser by itself then it's a hotmail issue.
You guys/gals probably aren't going to agree or like my answer... stop trying. I have fought this battle over and over with one of our companies' suits. Different email formats / clients / browsers / platforms all behave differently. Some of your recipients will be locked into using whatever their IT dictates. Examples... plaintext will never see it, corporate security policy may actually bounce your entire mail viewing the inline graphic as a potential harbinger of hidden malicious code, etc...
I correspond regularly with many fortune 500 companies from Adobe to Symantec and there is a common underlying theme in their signatures, there's no graphic. If companies like this with unlimited talent and resources can't make it work, we can't either, not that I haven't tried. You are chasing your tail.
Ok thanks Guys!
I did try a different host, I don't remember what the host sites names were. Next I'll try a different file format. I'm at work now and I can't access my Hotmail Account so I'll have to work on this again tonight.
Does seem like a Hotmail issue because I can get to the graphic (see it) through my browser when I type in the URL.
By the way, are you guys busy? I work at a small commercial print shop in Michigan, and we are SUPER slow.
Have been since December.
I was going to say exactly what Mr. Burns said, only I'm not that smart.
Personally, I hate graphics or any sort of fluff in an email. IT'S AN EMAIL. Use it for communication in a way that will reach everybody. I always set my email client preferences to strip out HTML in the body of an email, so I never see any graphics or styles people think they're setting in their email. You have no idea what service or settings your recipient is using.

We are steady to busy.
I too work in Michigan it has really dropped off since January but we are at least steady.
gnubler has hit the other nail on the head, even if the moon and the stars are aligned perfectly and you aren't restricted by one of my propellor headed brethren, many people out there are old school and not only do they not care about your graphic, they'll go out of their way to block it. If they do let it through, they will snicker at your attempt at feigning you are l33t.
I didn't suspect you would listen, I can only tell you I spent (forced) two entire work weeks monkeying with this before I could convince CFO this was a fruitless endeavor.
That being said, here is how to make your graphic appear consistent to everyone, use this as your graphic... (http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu136/allanster/b4print/broken_icon.gif) and remember to set your alternate link to: <signature.gif>
While you're at it, grab yourself this matching necklace...

Psst, hey Nick. CALL ME. I won't tell DCS.
He will know, he serves the dark one, DCS told me to buy stock in GE 2 days ago, yesterday it closed at...

Coincidence? I don't think so.
Nick has nice feet.
I am currently surrounded by men I love. I heard North Korea is going to start dropping bombs on March 12 - let's party!

Way to break even.
I found a good article about HTML in email:

I especially like Rule #1: Run. Immediately. Don't pack. Don't think. Just GO!
