All of a sudden can't open pdf's on an Imac running 10.6 wants a login and password to do it, these machines dont have passwords, home folders all show that they are locked, tried creating a new user admin and reg and all those home folders are locked, wtf?

Still messing with it any ideas?

Agreed. Good place to start. And use Applejack. The swiss army knife of the Mac.

BTW, Applejack is not supported for 10.6, so I would find an alternate method, like the System disk to repair permissions at this point.

Okay. But, still don't run Applejack IF you ever upgrade to 10.6 until they get it fixed.

No shit? I just installed Applejack on the Mac at home running SL. I wonder what happens if I use it.

got a report that AJ doesn't work with 10.5.6

QuoteSince I upgraded to 10.5.6, Applejack does not work. When I restart and hold command+s, I get only an opportunity to run fsck. The former script does not run.

I use Applejack on 10.5.8 without problems.

well, that's just you, being a ninja master an' all.
I take some of the "reports" on the net to be questionable, until proven by more than one.
