But, but, the boss here says there is no printing to be had anywhere!

Oh, that's right. How would he know since he hasn't gone out at tried to get work in 8 years...
Speed doesn't kill, rapidly becoming stationary is the problem

I'd rather have stories told than be telling stories of what I could have done.

I know. Why have a sales team if they're not out there selling?

That's because it's supposed to walk in the door. At least, that's the way it works here.
Tall tree, short ropes, fix stupid.

We just hired two new salesman. One for Pennsylvania and the surrounding area (yes that includes New York/New Jersey) and one for Kansas and surrounding area plus we hired another salesman about a year for the local area and they are all brining in new jobs daily it seems. Of course we only go after customers with worst files imaginable.

(auto correct keeps trying to change salesman to salmon! :rotf: )

Probably in the fine print in your mission statement.

Busy all year...June hit and crickets. Our bindery, paper, copier sales guys, all say the same thing crickets.

Strange, my inner autocorrect keeps having me type customers as cuntomers.

We were busy until last week. Then nothing. Well, maybe a couple jobs a day. Then my partner in crime gets sick for two days mid-week and I'm slammed those two days. Next day, Friday, he comes to work and nothing to work on. Since, we've had maybe three jobs a day.  :sleepy:

I did get to run the Xerox for a few hours yesterday and the day before on an order of 250 books with 9-8pg signatures plus a cover. I ran way more than extra on the cover and my bindery guys screw up almost all of the covers. I guess I'll get some more time on the Xerox here when more paper arrives.

Quote from: Joe on June 13, 2017, 11:10:56 PMI started working in printing in 1979. Tuesday (yesterday) was the busiest day in all 38 years. And I am getting too old for this.
Big statement. Shit.... video?

Meanwhile, compadre says it "must be time to get an email with job download link..."

It's 10 mins to home time.
He's probably right.
LOL how right you are, except it was 1 minute to finishing time, for a super urgent job going to the other a2 press (i.e. another printer we use for large runs).
Replace 10 pages in a 28 page file, WTF would you not just send the whole file again? But no I have to fix the file (fill of RGBs etc) and insert each page into the existing file (delete old ones) and resend back a high res proof.
lucky Im good, only took me 5 mins (thank you pitstop)... LOL

guess what... one more page to insert this morning!

Only one? There's more coming next proof.

Same. I've been going through this divorce and it should all be over beginning of August. All my time out of work has been running the kids around and house hunting with my realtor. Crown Point, IN is on fire right now and people are overbidding houses by $15,000 and selling in less than 24 hours. It got discouraging every time I found one I liked and it was gone in a few hours. I decided to keep my house and the pressman is moving out. He jumped on one and overbid $7000 over the asking price to get it. Earnest money is down and everything is moving along. Feeling better that it's almost over.
You wouldn't believe the nonsense I have endured at this company. Nepotism runs rampant. Worse than the last place. Spoiled brats who fight constantly.
I'm going on 7 years here and got 1 raise at a buck about 5 years ago. I was told I'd be getting a raise in the next few months. I want at least 2 bucks and I'm going to ask for it. Wish me luck.
